COMMENTS: Hey look, a split with the Braves! Hey look, a series win against the Cards! Hey look, sole possession of first place! Hey look, best record in the NL! What the heck just happened? One moment the Lakers have lost home court, and the next Derek Fisher is taking down three Celtics at the Garden. One moment Andre Ethier's pinky looks like it's still busted, and the next he's 3-for-4. One moment Manny's struggling, and the next...well, he's struggling slightly less. Tonight Kershaw goes for the sweep. Think he has the guts to pull it off?

I'm listening to Mason and Ireland talk baseball, and I could swear my ears started bleeding. First, Mason was adamant that the Dodgers did not select Zach Lee just to avoid signing somebody. He completely ignored all reason and remained steadfast that the Dodgers believed they had a legitimate chance to sign him. Second, I just heard Ireland say the Yankees do not have a "top of the rotation starter."
These two need to stop talking about baseball. Immediately.
Hey, hey, hey!
So one game is a laugher; the other is a squeaker; what's in between?
A Leaker?
A Squawker?
Another pitchers' duel?
@MLASF
Obviously Ireland feels that if you put Sabathia there, the rotation becomes "top-heavy."
We're "getting past" our opponents - yea!
I'm home and preping for the game by "getting past" a sixer of Paulaner
@Karina
What is your question about pronouncing "engineer"?
I just "scraped by" a coupla Pyramid Hefs.
n + gin + EAR?
You had me at gin, Mr C.
Monster Cheerios will start on Sunday.
You know, he IS the FUTURE OF THIS ORGANIZATION.
@dusty
I hope you didn't have in in your ear, though.
Giants lose.
Rox are losing 2-1.
Finally, a chance for me to see a game! Yay!
Nats win!
Are you at the ravine, Sax?
Kershaw has not yet had a 1-2-3 first inning this year, acc to Vin
Aaron Miles=MSB?
Kid K a tad shaky to begin. Keep it together kiddo.
No, not there. But finally on the same time zone...
Kershaw still doesn't...
No 1-2-3 first today.
Clayton Kershaw is no Sean Waltman.
Kershaw appears to be in another time zone.
Here's Nutshot
To be fair, Clay had a 1-2-3 first in his last start, but Martin had that passed ball on strike three.
Can anyone guess the amount of times I yelled out something derisive to Holliday last night that referenced his misplay in the playoffs last year?
Strike out # 2!
"Another mess up in billing!"
@dusty
Thirty-seven?
That ad makes a lot less sense the more I think about it.
HONK HONK
@Mr C
Very close!
Now guess how many stinkeyes/lectures on class I received from Mrs Dusty and MDIL during the game.
I guess 42
Well, it was an ace-y walk.
@dusty
Combined or individually?
I'm going with 36 (you got a pass on the first one)
I think Joe Torre should have run out and started arguing re the Kemp CS. Just for giggles.
(Those listening or following on GameDay: Kemp was out by about 20 seconds)
Oh Kemp. Kemp, Kemp, Kemp.
I wish we would have had a man on base for that double. OH WAIT, we did.
Hey look at that we already got a run!
oh wait...
thanks kemp.
And of course Andre doubles. There's no way in hell he's ever going to contend for the triple crown again.
Kemp scoring wasn't meant to be.
Epale, everyone!
Manny delivers!
ManRAM!!!!!
Oh thank goodness Manny's finally coming back.
Manny smacked a bish UP on that shot.
Hi Karina!
Epale, Karina!
Ace, my ass.
Boom goes Manny!!!
This is not a very ace-like game.
It's like our performances against Carp and Wain from the playoffs got flipped.
We love us the two-out madness, Vinny.
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen
Just got in, looks like Wainwright is struggling a bit.
I did get a pass on the first nutshot reference, but after that got the ocular whuppin'.
It was somewhere in the high 30s or early 40s, so Mr Ca and MLASF are both very close in their guesses. I was relentless.
I was certain also to throw in the odd "Wash your hair, Timmeh!"s.
It's too bad that Bill Plaschke can't see how well our pitching has done, what with his head three feet up Phil Jackson's ass.
Hey, Karen!
Epale, Karen!
And now Delino just ripped out a large portion of his chest hair.
Siddown, Yadier.
Phuck Philly
Josh, since you said I needed to talk to my son, he seems to be improving or am I watching him with a mother's eyes?
For being the best fans on earth, St. Louis fans sure let the expletives fly when manny comes up.
Some cow behind yesterday was down talking manny all game yesterday. It was sweet justice when he had the only RBI.
I'd imagine there are many holes in Delino's walls after that.
@Dusty Baker I guess one of my English teachers gave me the trauma that I can't pronounce "engineer" correctly.
However, Mr C gave me great advice.
Thanks very much!
C'mon Matthew
Epale, Karen!
OT Again?
Im not liking kemp today.
Well until he does something good and then i will love him.
how about another double, Dre?
damn, let him off the hook.
Andre still needs to regain his clutchness.
Stop waving, you ugly skanks behind home plate!
@Dusty Baker I'm tempted to pull a Mrs Dusty or Mrs Dusty in law if you keep using that word ;)
KKKKKKershaw!!
Nice throwing, kid!
What word, "engineer"? ;-)
Actually Mrs Dusty and MDIL were the first ones to pipe up and yell at those women for acting like foolz and waving at the camera.
what the hell is chicago doing? so careless with the puck.
FJL en fuego.
Their ace is dropping a deuce.
can someone bring a brother up to speed on the hockey situation? i get that it's the finals and that it's phiwwy v blackhawks. but what is game count?
DeHitts just keep on coming!
Blakey Baby!!!
DeHitt!
Wainwrong!!
@josh
Let's hang a trey on him this inning, then!
Was that it? looked like a goal to me.
That was a strange goal. Now back to baseball.
@dusty
3-2 hawks, playing in Phiwwy. Knotted at 3 in OT.
Now the Hawks win. At least Philly lost. Sorry Delino.
Ahem. Amend that to "See you next year" in the time it took me to write that comment.
Ever notice that Clay us occasionally very good at running up the opposing starter's pitch count?
I'm sorry I missed the hockey. Couldn't fit it in. Congrats to Chicago.
Vin's love affair w Ryan L continues. Get a room!
I thought his love affair was with Holliday.
i seriously hate ludwick.
Shee-it.
oh-oh
he has been the only guy doing anything in this series for the cards.
now wainwright will retire the next 12 batter in order.
Fucking Ludwick.
I'm not sure how many times I've said that.
Let's see if we can get some of that comfortable margin back.
seriously, can ludwick pull a hammy or something?
Sometimes it's Holliday, sometimes it's Ludwick. The way he was talking about him before the HR I thought he was going to start talking about showering with him. *shivers*
well, we should get at least three innings of cards pen. im not sure if thats good or bad yet.
@Dusty
That's a visual I could have gone all night without
Crazy Eight for Kershaw!!!
Rufus Wainwright up.
Did Vinny just say the Count of Monte Cristo was a closer?
Seems appropriate.
Vin always lurved him some Randy Winn, too. Back when he was good, that is.
King James double!
Sure to quash the strange McCourt hiring voodoo priest news coming out tonight is this:
"USC has been hit with a two-year post-season ban in addition to the loss of scholarships, among other penalties from the NCAA."
^Per ESPN
FJL!
Blake knows that was a BS call.
Kerwin Danley is one of the WORST umpires. so damn inconsistent.
Im pretty sure everyone saw this coming after Carroll fled to Seattle.
Bad day for the Delino.
^ USC suspension.
manny giveth, manny taketh away.
Yep, he's definitely a MSB.
Pujols just a big bully per Vinny.
nice attempt at the DP, stupid pujols didnt hit the ball hard enough.
I'm freaking out in this Pujols at bat.
totally blew holliday away.
stupid ludwick up now though.
What a K, Kid K.
Jaysus!
"Stupid Sexy Ludwick" --Vinny.
I just peed in my pants a little.
I thought Pujols could hit something, he's due.
thank you heavy night time air.
I nearly crapped myself.
The Kid got out of that by the skin of his teeth
That might be the best ball ever hit that didn't leave the yard.
That was a bit close.
@Karina, Vin says that Pujols is only hitting like .150 against power pitcher, and we have plenty of power arms.
maybe try swinging at least once next time, Raffy.
@Nic.
So you are saying Albert is reeeeeally due?
This must be the worst day of Delino's life.
is it just me or do the dodgers rarely ever chase a starting pitcher. It seems like they get them in a lot of trouble with high pitch counts in the 3 or 4 inning and they still always go at least 6.
We are getting Ludwicked.
im saying he is very due, and will cash in during the next series, against the Dbacks.
We def need to get better at putting the sword to pitchers when we have them down.
@Nic J thanks for the stat. It's a relief.
KKKKKKKKKK
7 IP, 113 pitches.
GBA singer isn't half bad.
At singing, I mean.
One more PA and Dre is back in the running.
Very good outing by Kid K
Stupid Ludwick.
White People in the house holla!!!!
@Dusty, at the game yesterday everyone in red was obese, white, and pushing 60.
The angry lady behind me who was riding manny all game made a comment after he was pulled for Reed as a pinch runner that manny should "run his fat ass around the bases himself"
This lady was easily two bills.
We're all up in they pen now.
Motte the Hoople in for relief.
All the young dudes rejoice.
Exactly, Nic. Them is some cornfed fans. That's why I got the hell out of Cardinal country when I did.
Will Brox be available tonight?
You can only hope to contain him.
Albert hasnt had a very good defensive series either.
Long single by Loney off Pulgas' glove.
They're turning Motte into applesauce.
Thank you, I'll be here till Sunday. Try the veal.
Panama!!
way to run it out manny.
DeHitt sure has been fidgety these last two ABs. Hang in there, Joycie!
I'm throwing fruit at you now, Mr C.
Go the other way with it Russ.
Where's Eric Smith tonight? That's clearly not him on the PA.
Dammit.
1st and 3rd and no one out....for naught.
Come on, guys, great teams know how to do this.
Damn it!!! Russ you had it hit harder than that. I have to so specific with that guy.
One more inning for insurance.
@Josh, i was thinking the same thing but i didnt want to seem obsessive because i could tell the difference between PA announcers.
@Nic J what do you mean with "was easily with two bills?"
@Josh
It's not Smith. It's the house man for Kings per J Bramlett's tweet earlier tonight.
Perfect night for King James, it's a pity he just has one run and no RBIs.
Back to Dumas. If the count is the closer I am guess the Musketeers were the starting pitchers. Back then I am sure they only had a four man rotation.
@karina, slang for 200 pounds. Bills like 100 dollar bills.
That was strong, Paul. Way to come correct.
@dusty
Understandable, but I'm afraid I've lost the thread of the conversation.
Unless that was for MLASF's comedy stylings.
Only the Loney!!
Nicely snagged.
@Paul
So then LaRussa=Cardinal Richelieu?
broxton gets the meat of the order again, that worries me a little bit. They all saw him pitch yesterday.
Biiig AB here
Nice belly!!!
Let's get some runs!!
Brox-Holes 2. Coming soon.
Lol. Mr. C it has to be.
damn ludwick was playing shallow.
@MLASF
Just saw your "probably a union thing" comment on twitter. Heh.
nice of the Angels to stop sucking right before we play them.
@Nic J thanks :)
Come on Bison!!! Wake up and get mad.
Whoa, Belisario!
Dammit. Now I hope dte doesn't getthat 5th PA.
I wish they'd show Broxton's entry.
Loved it in person.
I sure wish we played in the Great American Ballpark.
Brox's entry really is getting to be a spectacle at the Yard. It ain't Gagne, but it's pretty cool.
Up 0-2
Hoo boy. Full count.
Man.
that was a swing last night.
Ok, Jim Joyce, give a little help here. Questionable calls.
Frick.
