From Neyer's twitter feed:
Just learned that Juan Pierre's nickname in some quarters is "Slappy McPopup". #truthinnicknames
As much as Neyer writes and blogs, I'm not surprised that this memo was buried under all of his other (more substantive) baseball items. And I believe--though I can't be certain--that the nickname "Slappy McPopup" was either invented here in a SoSG comment thread, or at least published here very early on among Dodgers blogs (props to anyone who can research this point or validate either way). But at the very least, it's nice to know the nickname lives on, 1745 miles later!

This just in: Andrew Jackson is known as "Old Hickory" in some parts of the U.S.
True true. But I never did find out who New Hickory was.
New Hickory=Tito Jackson, but who is New Kinderhook?
*slaps self on forehead*
That's right, New Kinderhook =Mr. Mackey, N'kay.
Where is Old Hoss Radbourn to help us with this nomenclature?
I was always a fan of Juan-for-four myself.
The first I ever heard of Slappy McPopup was from underdog at Dodger Thoughts.
Juan Pierre: He hits the hardest ground balls and highest popups of any man to ever walk the face of the earth.
In all seriousness, President James K. Polk was nicknamed "Young Hickory."
Wasn't Polk "Young Sherlock Holmes" too?
Sax- "Napoleon Of The Stump"
If Wikipedia is to be believed. And I always believe Wikipedia.
