Post-Game 9 Thread: KKKKKKKKKKKKKershaw!

Muttonchops?

DODGERS 5, GIANTS 4

"He has struck out 13. And young Clayton, at 21, is hanging a bunch of K's like wallpaper out here."

—Vin Scully

Although Clayton Kershaw didn't get a decision, he was clearly tonight's MVP. (Second place goes to Brian Wilson, the hard-throwing Giants reliever who walked in the winning run.) Remember, Kershaw is 21. (Prime Ticket tells us Kershaw is the youngest Dodger with 13 or more strikeouts in a game since a 19-year-old Sandy Koufax struck out 14 in 1955.) And remember, Chad Billingsley struck out 11 on Monday. That's 24 K's in the last two games. Not too shabby.

As for the negatives—there are always negatives!—it's only appropriate Lost was on tonight, as the Dodgers continue to strand men at a prodigious rate, leaving a staggering SEVENTEEN on the bases tonight. James Loney had three RBIs without a hit, for Pete's sake.

Want more bad news? Opening Day starter Hiroki Kuroda "is more likely weeks away than days away," putting more pressure on the Stultses and McDonalds of the world.

But the good outweighs the bad tonight. Sweet dreams—maybe about the Dodgers' next Koufax & Drysdale.

Great performance tonight. Too bad Clayton didn't get the W. I'm sure we will see plenty more performances like this over the years. It is definitely a pleasure to watch him pitch.
