Opening Day Ceremonies...from My Living Room

Sax and AC will undoubtedly chime in with an At-Game Recap, but here's a taste of what Los Angeles-area television audiences were treated to today:

Joe Torre greets Tommy Lasorda.

Dodger players entered the field through the stands. Here James Loney greets fans.

Randy Wolf, the veteran, acknowledges the coaches and staff.

Clayton Kershaw, the youngster, almost runs the wrong way.

Casey Blake with a nice Opening Day smile.

Manny Ramirez greets the batboys.

A moment of silence for Nick Adenhart, his friends, and Harry Kalas.

The American flag is unfurled.

"The anthem by Charice, who is a 16-year-old Filipina, and I'm telling you what a gift from God she has with her voice." —Vin Scully

Joe Torre acknowledges Charice. A very nice gesture on his part.

Stealth Bomber. Palm trees. Must be Opening Day at Dodger Stadium.

Vin and Sandra Scully enter through the crowd.

Scully smiles with Torre.

The Dodgers honored Army Pvt. Jesse De La Cruz, who approached Scully with his hand extended. Scully opened his arms wide and gave De La Cruz a warm hug. I teared up a little. Okay a lot. Hey give a guy a break.

De La Cruz hugs Torre.

Vin's a lefty!

"I have needed you a lot more than you have needed me." —Vin Scully. I never thought I'd call Vin a liar.

N'Kenge, who trained at Juilliard and sings fluently in 11 languages (I mean, who doesn't?), performed "God Bless America" in the middle of the seventh.

Vinny's no liar, he just has no idea how much he means to all of us.
