Randy Wolf (0-0, 0.00) vs. Chris Young (0-0, 0.00).
COMMENTS: The Dodgers emerged from Opening Day with a 4-1 victory over long-time nemesis Jake Peavy, on a day when almost everyone did as we had hoped: Rafael Furcal and Orlando Hudson reached base and both stole a base to start the game; James Loney slugged both in with a 2RBI single to left; Matt Kemp homered and made a spectacular diving catch; Hiroki Kuroda got us into the seventh with only a scratch wound of a single first-inning run; Cory Wade and Hong-Chih Kuo held the lead; and Broxton shut them down in the ninth with 100 MPH balls of heat. Who needs that Manny Ramirez guy (who went 0-for-3 with 1K)?
The Dodgers owned Chris Young last year, beating him all three times (in two of the games, Young took the loss). But Young's a better pitcher than that (42-28 career), so let's see if last year's teammate Randy Wolf can beat him tonight. And did Vin Scully mention that Chris Young went to Princeton? Funny, that's the first time I've heard that.

Two in a row! Let's go Wolf!
I'll be here at the beginning of the game for sure, but it'll be 10pm when the game starts here, so we'll see how long I can hang around.
I'm just glad Karina's back.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. I love this time of year. Such excitement in the air. Everyone is happy. Everyone's an optimist.
Go Blue.
Furcal, SS
Hudson, 2B
Ramirez, LF
Ethier, RF
Martin, C
Loney, 1B
Kemp, CF
Blake, 3B
Wolf, P
Raffy goes down on the backwards K.
Tall Chris Young with two K's. Time to panic!
Wolf K's Giles looking!
No panic. Game is young as the season.
Epale Orel!
I'm late because i got confused with the hour.
Wolf has 2 K's of his own.
Not too bad, Wolf k's Gonzalez.
Erin, i'm excited to be here too, again.
I just wanna inform to the people i don't know i;m a huge fan of this site.
Loney won't lay off the high fastball. And gets a single up the middle for it.
Epale, Karina! So nice to have you around.
Kemp singles up the middle too!
Everybody, meet Karina. Karina, meet everybody.
Casey goes down swinging. Damn.
Lead off triple by Kouzmanoff...
One out, two more to go! let's go Blue!
Hairston with the RBI. 1-0 Padres.
In Gameday, they skipped Hairston.
Karina, how did Aguilas do this season?
Wolf walks Hundley. Men on first and second for the Padres, one out.
Hundley walks. This doesn't look pretty.
Does Gameday still do that? Last year, sometimes the last batter would disappear.
"Baserunning boner by Scott Hairston!" —Vinny
Great defensive maneuvering by Loney there.
Very well, Orel. They got into the playoffs and they were fighting to get into the finals two days before the playoffs ended. It was very exciting, because they were mostly a group of very young players. It was a season to remember!
Go King James!. I'd wish i could have seen it.
It seems King James and Kemp are really motivated.
right now I think I'd rather see the other Blake (Dewitt).
anyone else curious why wolf is starting this game. Didn't he do terribly in San Diego last year?
Young singles, Giles walks. One out.
Wolf, to me, is the biggest question mark in the rotation. Of course, i forgot about Schimtd, long time ago.
Hey Dusto. I think Wolf going today gives the Dodgers a R-L-R-L-R rotation, and also sets up Bills for the home opener.
Rancho Ardiendo for the Padres. Or do we only get to use that term for the good guys?
Although at this rate, Torre might be wishing he started Kershaw tonight.
wow wolf you suck
Wolf K's Kouzmanoff. He's at 47 pitches.
lets see a 1-2-3 dp
Escape from San Diego!
somehow gets out of it
Aflac trivia question: What pitcher has the most all-time wins against the Los Angeles Dodgers?
That was close. Hit him hard, Maanny!
Manny's first hit of the season is a double!
MANNY!!!!
I saw the answer to this question on this morning Sportscenter, but i can't remember :(
Peavy was second in that list. Also there were a couple of Hall of Famers....
I was going to say Peavy.
C-mon, Mr. Martin. Be a good son!
anyone else get the feeling that Loney and Kemp are planning on ripping the NL west a new one this year?
J. Martin RBI double! 1-1 tie!
Loney & Kemp & Ethier & Martin
and Bills
and Kershaw
It might be someone like Maddux. Back in the day Atlanta was part of the NL West.
My son delivered!.We need a nickname for the young blue.
"Baby Blues"
Loney walks. Two on for Kemp, one out!
Orel, i think Wade and McDonald could be great, too.
They are really worried about Martin at second. Young gives up a lot of steals.
Anyone else get 100 things dodgers fans should know & do before they die?
True, Karina. McDonald is the big question mark—he starts Friday.
Not yet, Damon. Do you have it?
Kemp infield single! RANCHO ARDIENDO
Sac fly! 2-1 Dodgers!
If Wolf could get a walk...
Got it in the mail yesterday
Have you had the chance to read something?
Almost, Randy. Nice try.
I still dont understand why we need to have our staff lined up R-L-R-L-R? R-R-L-R-L is no different.
Yeah, first impressions, Damon?
trivia answer: Juan Marichal
Good so far. I've only read a couple of pages
keep it goin Randy!
Dusto: Maybe to prevent the Padres from settling in to their lineup? It is a four-game series.
Orel what are your thoughts about J.Martin using your number
Wolf listens to FB.
Damon: Russell is a worthy successor to wear #55.
Nice steal by Hudson.
Next time you're on an Espn broadcast would you punch Steve Phillips for me please
Nice tagging up by Hudson. Some players would have taken off on contact.
I love the disgust in Vinny's voice when he says "Giants."
You got it, Damon. During a commercial break.
Nims, I really don't think Vin is a homer like that.
David Eckstein looks like he's standing in a blender.
Martin is quick like cat.
The Padres are bad. Really bad.
"Let's go back to this one."
Then why are we only up by one?
This ump has the oddest strike zone tonight. High and tight.
is young done for the night?
Hmmm, Wolf might not escape the 6th.
Wolf at 84 pitches. Young at 97.
Great defensive play by Hudson, and presence of mind to try to throw the runner out at third.
Mota in.
Geez Mota
Did I mention we're losing now? 3-2 Padres.
4-2 Pads
4-2 now. *sigh*
Okay, let's see what the Padres' pen's got.
When do they give the answer to the trivia? 7th?
Gerut flies out!
Padres using a 28-year-old rookie reliever. Which of course means he'll fan the side.
Karina, the trivia answer was Juan Marichal.
DeWitt pops up in his first AB of the season.
DeWitt probably swung at ball four. Furcal's at 3-1.
Two on!
Why even swing there, Orlando?
Here we go, Manny!
Argh! Msnny is useless! Trade him!
Oh, Man.
one down for Oh, Man.
I thought Ohman was supposed to start the season in the minors.
nice new avatar, karina. and welcome back
Orel: he is. He's playing the Padres.
Thank you San Diego! Good night!
I have no idea how to read all these funky new Gameday dials. I feel like I'm standing in front of the instrument panel of a cockpit.
Speaking of which, guess who did this (trivia answer to be posted in a week or so)?
Duaner Sanchez!
How was Duaner's velocity?
TV radar says he topped out at 91. But he got the side out in order.
Blake walks with one man out in the ninth (Kemp K).
Blake still is batting .000 for the year (though he got a sac fly RBI today).
The new Gameday has this by the batter:
Loves to face:
Hates to face:
My entry would say:
Loves to face: my wife and kids
Hates to face: the highlighter person at Costco
5-pitch K for Mientkiewicz. Two out.
And it looks like the Padres don't miss Trevor Hoffman!
Raffy already has two Ks on the day, and he's down 0-2...
...and there's the third K for Raffy to end the game.
Dodgers lose, 4-2.
Good night, everybody!
2 runs... offensive offense
