On a day where Clayton Kershaw uncharacteristically faltered (he left the game in the eighth, down 5-3 thanks in large part to serving up two Carlos Gonzalez HRs), Dee Gordon came up with a clutch two-out, two-on, bases-clearing double to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth. But Jerry Hairston struck out to end the threat. Reliever Jamey Wright entered and walked the first two batters on ten pitches, followed by an advancing sacrifice. Scott Elbert then entered to restore order, but two scant pitches later, Jason Giambi had won the game with a three-run HR.
Dodgers drop the series and get the wind knocked out of them by the Rockies in the rubber match. They are 17-8 (tied with Texas for the best record in the majors) and now sit 3.5 games ahead of the Diamondbacks, who just got underway in the District. Sigh.

It's merely a fleshwound.
I feel pretty good about the Cubs series, anyway.
Just win the series, that's all.
I'm guessing we'll see some roster moves. Uribe to DL, maybe? Belly is eligible to return Friday, but I don't quite see him being an improvement.
Just watched the replay of Dee's double. Loved Kemp smacking Ethier in the back of the head in celebration.
The Dodgers have a 1-1 record under Guggenheim's ownership. Get it together, Earvin.
I blame Karina for all the Cargo Love...
(cries)
Zona takes the lead from the Nats 2-1 in the top of the fourth; Bryce Harper takes it back. 3-2 Nationals through four.
I wonder if the dodgers can just buy the Cool-a-Coo recipe.
Dammit, E-Jax is letting this get away! 4-3 Snakes in the top of the sixth.
Still 4-3, on to the bottom of the eighth
Kennedy on Dodger Talk vetting Bobby Abreu as a left handed bat off the bench, but he wouldn't say who Abreu would replace...
B8, two on, none--make that one, out for the Nats
drinking and getting extra surly after today's loss. Carlos Gonzales' smug post-game grin has been burned into my brain
Nats can't convert. On to the ninth, 'Zona by one run
Is Gameday smart enough to show different backgrounds based on predicted (or actual) attendance numbers? I noticed the crowd at the Gameday Coors Field was pretty sparse
Rodriguez actually does pretty well for the Nats this time (unlike against us).
On to the bottom of the ninth, with Bryce Harper up first.
@FB 6:55p: I noticed that as well. I've actually never seen a full crowd @ Coors Field on Gameday (consistent with reality, this year)
Harper leadoff double! Tying run at second with none out for the Nats, down 4-3.
Ramos? Vamos.
Ankiel Ks as well.
Ian Desmond is the Nats' only hope...
Nats have 11 Ks in this game
Desmond comes through!
HOME RUN!!!
ARIZONA LOSES
Nationals radio broadcaster just lost a nut on that call. "Bang zoom!"
Nationals 5, Snakes 4 (final)
JJ Putz, thank you very much!
Now it's all about Miami @ SF...
Okay, see you on the other side guys.
FB, get some sleep dude!
Fish up 1-0 in the first but the Giants are threatening in the bottom of the first...
Fish wriggle off the hook! 1-0 Marlins through 1
Get a room, Sax.
2-0 Not bad guys.
"Get a room"
Isn't that kind of what this is?
Zito out already? Is he hurt?
I'm not that lucky
Fish win, Gnats lose!
