Post-Game Thread: UCLA 78, Michigan State 76

Holy smokes, that was close. If you've got a 23-point lead in the second half, you should be able to close that out. But Tom Izzo's team kept fouling, and UCLA kept clanking free throws at the line...this was down to a one-point game in the final minute. Sheesh.

But at least this SoCal team advances...along with San Diego State, which won its first-ever NCAA Tournament game tonight, beating Northern Colorado 68-50. Well done, guys!

Go Bruins!

Seriously. The thing about Lavin's teams is, they overachieve when you expect nothing, and then when you start expecting something they totally crumble.

In watching the second half of that game, I had a sickening feeling this was going to be UCLA's "Gonzaga" highlight.

I'm so glad I was wrong.
