STGT: March 23 @ White Sox, 1p

The Dodgers beat the Cubs 2-1 yesterday, meaning we turn our superstitious eyes to our new lucky spring training charm, which is apparently...a Spice Girl.

Wow, she looks remarkably like an older Jennifer Morrison.

I am now fixated on Ginger Spice.

Tell me what you want, what you really really want

Steve Sax said...

Ginger is looking on the older side there. If she wants to be my lover, I'd rather get with her friends.

I thought that was Coach's wife from Friday Night Lights.

Thanks to my extremely weird work schedule, I might actually get to participate in my first STGT of the year. Huzzah!

Working quick...at the plate.

Jason said...

Thames busted up what could have been the first ever 24 pitch complete game.

Who is the hitting coach again?

Nostradamus said...

It's beginning to look like former spice girl posts were not the lucky ticket.

Jason said...

^^ er... 27-pitch. Just noticed we are playing at Chicago Camelback rather than LA Camelback.

Also, my first conflicting edit of the year. It is on, Mr. C!

Nostradamus said...

Nice timing! It's not like people are lined up out the door to post yet, either.

Jason said...

Has there been a called ball on any pitch yet this game? I'm trying to figure out who has an early-bird dinner reservation, the Dodger hitters or the home plate umpire.

@josh - you know, I was thinking that exact same thing when I saw the picture!

@steve sax - we're all getting older. :p

Jason said...

And of course Gwynn walks on 4 straight balls. Weird game.

Jason said...

Bison power. 3-1 good guys.

Nostradamus said...

Well, I'll be damned.

K E M P H R ! ! !

Steve Sax said...

@Jason 1:51p: furkey just walked on four pitches to lead the fifth

Josh S. said...

I know they share a facility, but this feels like the 150th time the Dodgers have played the White Sox this Spring. At least we don't have to play them again all year.

What's that?

Oh...damn.

Steve Sax said...

Uribe scores Furcal just in the nick of time (before Kemp and Loney waste at bats and end the inning).

4-1 Dodgers through 4.5 innings

Jason said...

Congrats to Ted Lilly for completing 4.2 innings before he threw his first called ball of the game.

30 pitches through 5. Assuming he is on a pitch count in the 60 - 70 range, do they let him go or do a couple of relievers get their work in?

This is what counts for serious intrigue during a STGT.

Steve Sax said...

ChiSox score one on a sac fly. Lilly has a tough inning but gets out with only one run given up.

4-2 Dodgers through five

Steve Sax said...

do STGTs have intrigue?

or STintrigue?

Steve Sax said...

leadoff double to Thames, and we're not going to be able to score him...

Steve Sax said...

nope, we didn't score him

Steve Sax said...

Loney scores Miles with two out!

Loney scores Miles with two out!

(and Kemp singled Miles from first to third, also with two out, btw)

5-2 LA

Steve Sax said...

mahay in trouble (men at corners with two out); gives way to Cormier

Jason said...

Will Ohman is still on an actual MLB roster? Who knew?

Steve Sax said...

Cormier gets Beckham to line to third, ending the inning

5-2 Dodgers through seven

Jason said...

Cameo appearance by Wide-Eyes. Looks like he really is pretending.

Steve Sax said...

men at corners, no out

Carroll called K
Juan Castro singles a run in before Gabe Kapler GIDPs

6-2 through 8

Josh S. said...

Nice inning by Elbert. He's slowly coming back to life.

Josh S. said...

I'm scared that T-Slick's Gameday pic is going to murder me.

Josh S. said...

We win! I still say that boobs (or at least cleavage) bring luck. It was only the split squad thing that caused a hiccup.

Steve Sax said...

6-2 and it's OVAH

Steve Sax said...

Dodgers now 11-16 and in THIRTEENTH place in the Cactus League

I, for one, welcome our new washed-up Brit-pop overlords.

I'm in total agreement with Mr.C.
