Still the Man

The Other Alex Cora is ready to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And he's all out of bubblegum. From the NY Post:

Alex Cora is mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. The veteran utilityman, miffed by the laughter inside the Mets' clubhouse after last night's 3-2 loss to the Diamondbacks, fired venom in the direction of Mike Pelfrey and reporters who were joking at the pitcher's locker.

Cora spouted an expletive in Spanish and raised his voice in the direction of Pelfrey and reporters as hede parted the clubhouse at Chase Field. "A little respect, please!" Cora snapped. "They stuck it up our [butts]."

At least someone on the team is showing emotion, proving the Mets aren't a total collection of corpses.

I'm not the biggest fan of leadership at the expense of batting average. If you want proof, check out my reaction to yet another out by Garrett Anderson at Blogger Night. It's about twenty seconds in.

But there's something to be said for a veteran - even a .210 hitting veteran - putting the fear of G-d into the team.

Mind you, as I write this, Cora just struck out again.

Human Centiped and Blogger Night are similar in ways you can't imagine.

Wait a minute....
All you guys have to talk about is Garret Anderson, AGAIN?
Please....
I am beginning to think that if GA didn't exist, you all would need to invent him.
