That's awesome! Nothing but top shelf humor here!

I'm going to try to take advantage of some Number 2 arbitrage.

I just got in on some early morning trading. I was busy in the overseas markets last night and had to take care of some put options this morning

and while we're on the topic of (horse)shit, fuck the goddamn Yankees if they end up with Cliff Lee. Fuck them if they don't, too.

The one ray of sunshine I can take from the Yankees possibly getting Cliff Lee is that the universe generally frowns upon that kind of overkill. Watch them get swept by the Tigers in the ALDS.

good point, Josh.

I am convinced it was Aaron Boone's homer off Tim Wakefield in the 2003 playoffs that killed the Curse of the Bambino. If it had been a real Yankee, like Jeter or Posada, I would understand, but Aaron Fucking Boone? That was such a terrible slap in the face that the universe had to lift the curse

I think it's been far too long since the Yanks have had a clubhouse-wide case of amoebic dysentery.

Kyle Baker said...

Call it the Payton/Malone Curse.

Hopefully it also applies to Miami Heat.

Jeter's due for a visit to the Springfield mystery spot.

Seriously? Yankees close to getting Cliff Lee? This just isn't fair anymore.

Kyle Baker said...

That was my thought, MLASF. Not fair.

I'm about to get all revolutionary and call for an immediate redistribution of wealth among MLB teams, or else we storm the gates. Off with their heads!

Josh S. said...

Aw, now the Yankees have Chad Tracy too?! This is RIDIC...

...oh wait, it's Chad Tracy.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Why don't the Yankees just buy out struggling teams? That way, they could simply trade Chad Huffman for Cliff Lee.

Kyle Baker said...

We need TR to come break up these baseball trusts.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Buster Olney says that the deal has stalled.

From MLBTR:

The Mariners are backing off, according to Sherman. The Yankees believe they are no longer in the Lee sweepstakes, as the M's have gone in another direction (all Twitter links). Sherman says 'the Yankees aren't getting Cliff Lee,' since another team has entered discussions aggressively.

MLBTR: "Sherman says 'the Yankees aren't getting Cliff Lee,' since another team has entered discussions aggressively."

I know the other team isn't us (at least I think it isn't us), but I'm going to go ahead and get excited anyway. At least I don't live in Cleveland.

Too slow, Josh.

Josh S. said...

To be fair, Blogger screwed me a bit there. Your comment wasn't there right away.

But yes, I am quite slow, except when food is involved.

Exciting.

LEE AND ICHIRO FOR SHERRILL AND ANDERSON STRAIGHT UP.

Josh S. said...

Eh, it's the Rangers.

MR.F said...

Eh?

@Josh 1:01 pm, unfair deal, add a couple of buckets of baseballs...

Josh S. said...

Now the Reds are in too?

Paul said...

Can we get Ted Lilly and end the curse of Mark Gruzelani kieoauk? (might have mispelled that)

vandilism sucks. Don't do it kids.

Kyle Baker said...

Done and done. Rangers.

Angels can kiss the AL West goodbye!

Josh S. said...

The Rally Monkey just crapped himself.

@Paul: Maybe we can get Ted Lilly before first pitch tonight.

Nostradamus said...

I can live with the Yankees and Angels getting screwed all in one trade. Why would the M's trade him to Texas, though?

Kyle Baker said...

At first I thought Josh's comment said "The Rally Monkey just capped himself."

Which seems at least as appropriate as what Josh actually typed.

So, Cliff Lee went to a team with:

-no money
-a murky ownership situation
-a name ending in "gers"

WE WERE SO CLOSE!

MeanieBreanie said...

Murky ownership, no money, a team ending in gers, gee it all sounds so familiar. It doesn't fail. I move from Dallas and the Rangers are having a kickass year despite themselves. DFW fans have my empathy/sympathy when I think about all the years they suffered. It’s about time they get their due.
