Carlos Monasterios (3-2, 3.30) vs. Tim Lincecum (10-4, 3.12).

COMMENTS: How did it come to this? The Dodgers, clinging to their NL West lives, starting a crucial series in San Francisco with a fifth starter who's recovering from a foul ball to the head. The bullpen, already stretched thin from last night's disheartening loss in San Diego. The offense, not having scored more than three runs in a win in the last 14 games. Oh, and Lincecum starting for the Giants. Can we rough up Timmeh two games in a row? Will Dusty tell him to wash his hair? The Game Thread will reveal all.

By the way, earlier this week I tried to tweet something like "I love how @MrLASportsFan owns Moriyama and ArgyledPlaschke. It just brightens my TL,never get enough!".
Never worked out.I think it was on Monday night.
Checking out GameDay and I found out we had a third out at third base, which horrifies me.
We also had an out at home.
What's up with Bowa tonight?
Karina, the team is pressing, big time.
@Karina
Yeah, plenty of fail to go around tonight.
Now we'll have a comeback.
Russ knows that karina is watching now
hustle.
damn
It hurts. It huuuuuuuuurts.
Jamey Carroll knows that I am watching
@DB, its ok man. The dodgers season is going to live on a big farm where it can run and play all it wants.
I feel terrible for Raffy right now. He's playing like he's on fire, an no one else seems to care.
Pods getting the feel
we catch a meaningless break
Pffff, Rowand would have caught that.
That was good. I'll have more of those please.
baby steps, right?
Raffy needs a triple
Breakthrough comment:
I hate Brian Wilson.
i'll take a double
Why on my mind Podsenik is a MSB?
damn, nearly killed raffys elbow right there.
woah did karina really type that? I printscreened that just in case she deleted her message
Please Raffy, just get on base.
Dre DP?
Nic, that's exactly what I needed to hear.
Plus. the Dodgers season will be able to see my first dog, from 1976, who I know is still alive and got sent to that EXACT place! How cool.
Do they have beer at this place?
Wilson does embody everything I dislike about this incarnation of the Jints.
@FB most of the time, I'm a lover not ahter, but it wouldn't be normal to love everyone, right?
Yanks get Berkman
Jonathan Sanchez out of the pen? I thought he was a starter.
@karina they are very natural and rational feelings
Ethier bad K, Loney weak groundout
Pods paying off. He manufactured that run.
HELL YEAH WILD PITCH
@Mr C great minds...
@DB, this farm has a microbrew festival every weekend.
that's 4 runs. does that mean we get shut out tomorrow?
I'm getting tired of Ethier right now.
Ugh.
All you JFL.
@FB positive side: an Ethier K it's better than a DP :)
Loney homer. Calling it.
loney broken wrist, out for season.
Oh god...
Well that does it. We're in the swirling vortex of outs, where only Martin can survive.
at the very least we are taking some joy out of this giants victory.
cmon Matty, make us forget
Is there any way to hop, skip, and jump the next three spots in the lineup to get to Martin?
This is officially the AB of Kemp's season.
Hey stop calling any injuries!
Kemp loves watching that little ball fly by as he stands there. Sometimes, he takes wild, speculative swings at it just to see what happens.
FINISH HIM!!!
throw that again and you will get Matty to swing
interesting.
Jigga whaaaaaa?
Vin says "the Dodgers are not done yet"
FAITH!
casey has had some pretty clutch HR's against the giants.
Matty keeps us going!
It's up to the Allmighty Mostpowerful BEARD now
If we lose I'll only be more pissed.
wild pitch please.
Barba, you can do it!
well, that still sucked.
This is officially the AB of Blake's season.
needs more beard
Ugh.
Hey, more than two runs. That's a victory in itself.
maybe that woke up the bats at the very least.
Why?
Whywhywhy?
why not take a pitch or two there?
if only we would have done something with the bases loaded and one out early in the game.
Ted Lilly would have taken a few pitches.
Ryan Theriot would have grounded out on the THIRD pitch
Damnit. Wrong thread. =(
It's always those damn insurance runs. It always seems like the opponents get a few insurance runs, and sure enough, that's enough to stifle a comeback. I'm so pissed at Weaver and Blake and Ethier and DeWitt and almost everyone but Raffy.
While we're on the subject of why, why do I jeep putting myself through this?
@Mr C - because it's a fine American vehicle.
time for some bed. gnite all
Well, it's right next to "k". You get the picture.
post-game: pigeons circling the field - WTF? It must be the rotting carcas of the Dodgers season that they are swooping in on. And on the poor grammar that I have been stricken with, what with ending a sentence with not one but two prepositions.
I kid because it hurts to cry.
[SoSG Fest location redacted] better stock a LOT of alcohol.
@MR C - i just figured you had to use "J" because the dodgers used all the "K's" tonight.
I'm with FB. I need some sleep. Still feeling woozy. Besides, you guys need someone to man the watchtower tomorrow for the Trade Deadline while your wining and dining with the Sons.
Wha happened to Weaver? Used to be lockdown in a jam. Now he's a lock to get into a jam. Done and done.
DB, weaver home/away splits are insane this year.
Weaver has an ERA of under 2.00 at home and an ERA nearing 7.00 on the road.
@mlasf
I dunno, nothing goes quite so well with tequila as vicodin.
(kidding, don't do that)
@Nic re Weaver
He must not be able to score any weed on the road. Only thing I can think of for that split.
Red wine and sleeping pills for me tonight.
Dammit. I was all jazzed up before that disclaimer.
I still have a bone to pick with Kemp over that brain dead play early on.
I am getting fucking hammered tomorrow.
@dusty
You'll likely have company.
Guys, breathe.
They'll improve, have faith!.Besides, Wild Card is going to stay on the NL West. This team is capable of that, no matter how lousy is their playing right now.
why are we suggesting to mix pills and alcohol?
See what you've done Dodgers? (besides getting a third out at third base and an out at home, sorry to bring that back but I can;t deal with this)
Good night, everyone. I need some rest. Have fun.
"Listened to Vin when I was taking a shower and thought about drowning."
So we can't mix booze and pills, but we can consider suicide by drowning, Karina? ;-)
Hope everyone has a good time at SOSG Fest. I'll be there next year when I earn my stripes..Hopefully
until then.
Here Me FUCKING ROAR!!!!!!!!!
P.S. Glad to see Karina is back
STAY TRUE TO BLUE....FOOLS
Another weekend working. Dodgers made it worse by stupid errors and making the third out at third base.
I wish I could be with the crew tomorrow but won't have my bender next weekend.
Until someone in the west starts raising the bar we will try to win this half ass way.
Goddamn.
My armpits feel like shit.
I am out of musical metaphors for this team. Oh no i have gone instrumental. Kenny G?????
Dig me out from this thorn tree
Help me bury my shame
Keep my eyes from the fire
They can’t handle the flame
Grace cut out from my brothers
When most of them fell
I carry it well.
Let's hope some SOSG magic helps tomorrow.

I love the middle if the night Kevin McReynolds rage!
I am having middle-of-the-morning KMac rage. He can go to hell
Rosenturd reporting the White Sox made a play for Manny.
I like Manny, but if we could get some decent players for him (and his salary) at this point, I would jump on that in a second
Yeah, I'm one of staunchest Manny defenders, but at this point, if we could get something decent in return for a clearly-declining, oft-injured player who can't really play day-to-day NL ball, and who obviously won't be back next season, then I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat.
Rosenturd or Turdenthal?
I would almost do it if we could relieve all of the deferred money we owe him. Maybe we could send him to the White Sox and get them to pay his and Balloon Curacao's owed money
More news on ^ that ^ front:
Apparently WSox wanted Dodgers to pay for all but a million owed Manny and were not offering any players in the deal.
Did that break your concentration?
If I were Colletti, I'd slam the phone on the table, then hang up, just to let Kenny Williams know how absurd and ridiculous that idea is. I know Manny's old and washed up, but $1 mill? That's it? Not even some A-level backup catcher? Ridiculous.
Also, talks with Cubs for both Lilly and Theriot are still alive.
I soon won't be.
hmm that's interesting
wait, WHAT?
I guess that's about all we gave up (Andy LaRoche) to get him, but he's worth more than a mil. Send him to NY for whatever Berkman's worth
The only reason I can think of for pursuing Theriot is that the team has admitted Blake is going nowhere, so they move DeWitt to third and put Theriot at second and stick Blake on the bench while DFAing GAARP. I guess I could live with that, though I doubt Colletti is smart enough to be thinking of that.
what's Lilly's deal? Is he under contract for a year or two more?
Pod Rays likely to get Ludlick from Shards.
Lilly's got an expiring contract, which is why he's trade bait.
New wrinkle in Manny situation: Rays inquired on him, but "went nowhere with #Dodgers," so sayeth Joel Sherman of the NY Post.
@MLASF
STOP IT WITH THAT LOGIC! We'll have none of that clear-headed thinking around these parts.
Rays get Qualls. HAHAHAHAHA! That guy is shite and he knows he is.
Either teams are submitting really terrible offers for Manny, or Colletti is demanding the world in return for him. Either way, I'm feeling like he will eventually be moved, even if it goes into August.
Jon Heyman says Manny would've taken a deal to the South Side, but that the Dodgers "want big prospects back."
Still seems to be some Manny/WhiSox chatter. We just can't part with him for nothin'.
Sacking of Mannywood soon to follow.
So the Padres would keep their shitty hitting shitty. I guess they needed somebody fill the gap left by Kevin Kouzmanoff
What do the shards get out of it?
Rosenthal says ChiSox will still make a push for Manny. While I know $1 million straight up for him is highway robbery, I want Colletti to make the deal.
Turdenthal:
"It's a halfcourt shot, but it's still in the air: Source says #WhiteSox intend to make one more run at Manny today. "
*sorry, ^a^ deal. One with much better return.
I need coffee, lads...check in again in a few...
I'm not sure how trading DL guys works, but I think the Dodgers and whichever team they deal with need clearance from the Commissioner's office to complete the deal. So I don't know if it could go down to the wire.
MSTI clears things up. You don't need the commish's clearance.
One more post before I have a nosh: Steve Henson of Y!Sports says the Dodgers are looking at other OFs, even after getting Pods, hoping to trade Manny before the deadline.
Get yer livers ready, gentlemen.
Trade deadline coincides with SoSG Fest 2010...
Jayson Stark says Lilly and Theriot are both coming. No word on who the Dodgers would send back, except it wouldn't be Manny.
Liver: check
I mean I checked and it's still there, amazingly.
