Six losses in a row have been painful, but also increasingly hard to watch with each game. Last night's loss, with the Don Mattingly Misstep and yet another ill-fated appearance by George Sherrill, was in all likelihood the capper on this season for the Dodgers. Coming out of the All-Star Break, we were tied for second and two games back of the Padres. We're now solidly in fourth place in the NL West, six games back. What's worse, we've served as a springboard for the Cardinals, whose sweepage helped lift them into first place in the Central, as well as the hated Giants, who are now contending in the West in second place.
What. The Fuck.
I haven't been able to catch the last six games--thankfully--but even on GameDay the pain of these gut-wrenching come-from-ahead losses has very effectively been illuminated through my little computer screen. I can't imagine how this must be for those watching the game on television or at the Stadium.
I prayed for a streak coming out of the All-Star Break. I just didn't think this streak would happen.
Sorry for the stream of consciousness. I'll post more later today, probably picking apart the individuals on the team. Right now, though, my frustration is largely at the whole entity, which seems to a rudderless helicopter spinning around frantically in circles before its inevitable fiery crash to the ground.

Trying to pin down exactly what's wrong with this team is a little like trying to fight a forest fire with a garden hose, but bullpen depth seems pretty high on the list to me.
I went to bed with a 5-1 lead and woke up to this. Why did I go to bed early? Did I just assume we would win or did I know something bad was going to happen?
This game totally sucked - again! Went to bed angry - again! We lost - again! All my Burrell heckling gone to waste. WTF? Ned needs to get us some bullpen depth, Tron needs to fix whatever the issue is and Sherrill - I think we all know what needs to happen to Sherill. -
@Betsy, please continue to heckle Burrell. He deserves every mean thing you can say to him, and he knows it
And I would like to put in my vote for Tim Wallach for our manager next year. If Joe wants to come back, I am fine with that, but if he leaves, I and very fine with that. And I don't want Mattingly as the manager to replace him. This obviously sounds like a reaction to the goof last night, but last night was just a mistake that could have happened to anyone. But it made me think again about who I would like on the bench. And Donnie ain't it.
I can't believe I am saying this but... why aren't we using Weaver more in these difficult situations?
I am sure he will screw up sometimes because he's Jeff Weaver, but he won't do it each and every time the way Miller and Breezy seem to do these days

When the Dodgers were swept by the Angels, I thought it was the low-point of the season.
I was wrong.
Then they lost the series to the Yanks, and I thought it was the low-point of the season.

Then they were swept in 4 games in St. Louis. Again I thought, "Low-point."
I was wrong.
Now, two embarrassing losses to our bitterest rival in front of sparse crowds? This has to be the nadir.
I hope I'm not wrong this time.
