Congrats, Raffy!

From "Furcal replaces Reyes in All-Star Game" at Dodgers.com:

Furcal was on the Dodger Stadium field with his children, ages 2 and 4, and wife for the Dodgers players' family day after Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Cubs.

"I'm waiting for my family, and then I got lucky -- I grabbed my phone and [general manager Ned Colletti] called me and asked me what I'm going to do on Monday and Tuesday," Furcal said. "I said, 'I got a plan to go with my family to Miami.' He told me, 'No, you made the All-Star team.' It made me so excited."

he should probably start then, right?

Bill Plaschke I'm going to rip your fucking eyeballs out and use them in my martini. You have just bought yourself and the dying medium you write for a canceled subscription. You fat vile shitsucking muckraker.

Read his piece on Angels Stadium and how much better he thinks it is than DS, but don't pay for it.

Dusty out. 187 on Plaschke.

Fuck Plaschke. That man is a disgrace to fat guys with pony tails.

Dusty, I wish you'd get off the fence about Plaschke and take a stance on him one of these days.

Why do you say that? Plaschke is absolutely right. The setting of Dodger Stadium is incomparable. Everything else he says is right. McCourt was supposed to have fixed up each level - Loge was supposed to be 2009, Reserve 2010. Nothing's happening. Part of that was Camelback in 2009 took the resources. Now it's the divorce. Of course they should fix it up, and completely redo the parking, too.

You can't stand to hear someone criticize Dodger Stadium? How feeble. It's a beautiful setting and field, but amenities are fairly crappy. Why wouldn't you want them fixed up? Why are you getting so defensive about someone pointing out the faults?

I just don't understand these reactions.

Fix it up. Get it done.

Plaschke is absolutely right? So "Southern California baseball's heart...is in Anaheim"??? You've gotta be kidding me.

My problem with Dodger Stadium is the exposed concrete. Get some more blue paint, dammit.

But anyways, at this point I couldn't give a rat's ass about what Plaschke talks about anymore, especially stadium-related. I'm a little too focused on how the rotation can improve, and if Derek Fisher might get swayed by Miami.

DON'T DO IT FISH. FOR THE LOVE OF JERRY WEST DON'T GO TO MIAMI.

watching Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I forgot there was a Braves/Tomahawk Chop reference in there. Leave it to Mel Brooks for the timeless humor

Well done Raffy!
Please don't enter the homerun hitting contest (even though I think you could beat Nick Swisher)

The "heart of baseball" in So Cal is a half empty stadium that features a concrete fountain with whirly twirly lights and sounds?

That comment made my morning. And yes, my morning consists of reading the previous day's GT.

Oh, I just ignore the guff. Sure, that "heart" comment is dumb, I grant you. But Plaschke (for once) is writing a sensible article about how Dodger Stadium's condition and amenities are second rate, and he's right. It's not bad enough to prevent serious fans from enjoying the games, of course not. But it's not first rate, and I wouldn't be surprised that he's right that it's not the sort of place MLB wants to highlight for an AS game until it's fixed up.
