Pitchman

From Mike Scioscia's Tragic Illness (via Walkoff Walk) comes this Steve Garvey commercial from 1977. See it for yourself!

What's interesting is that the ad is for a big-screen rear-projection television called Sega Vision. According to Sega Memories, "little information of the Sega-Vision exists outside of the United States Patent listing." Also, it was invented by a man named Earl Muntz. Ha ha!

Papa's still coming back, he just went out for some cigarettes and to invent a TV that's shady business.

I'd listen to him. You saw what he did to that Ninja.

Gentlemen, off-topic, I know, but you should follow your fellow Son Lasorda and join my Dodger Bloggers Fantasy Baseball League.

I'm just saying.

Brotherhood. And stuff.

Don't leave Lasorda to fend for himself.

You guys don't call yourselves the SonS of Steve Garvey for nothing.

@KK

It's funny that Lasorda has spent more time doing the fantasy thing than he has posting anything on this site.

I will not draft Brian Giles in any fantasy team I join, which will help me deal with the fact that in real life, we "drafted" him. *shivers*

Dusty- Fantasy is quite fun. See if you have pull with the rest of the Sons. Teammates, brotherhood, etc etc.

I do have to admit though that I was surprised it was Lasorda who responded, because I honestly don't think I've seen a post from him since I started reading the site haha. Not that I ever pay that much attention and check to see which Son wrote something up, but still.

Better late than never, as they say.

KempKershaw, you're correct that Lasorda is not one of the most prolific Sons (and frankly, you all took care of the other one earlier this year).

But what he lacks in word count, he makes up in... well, let's see how he does in Fantasy. Honestly speaking, I think this is right up his alley. Thanks for the invitation and I do hope Lasorda represents us well in your PTSIA league. (And either way, we'll be extolling his virtues or mocking the hell out of his performance over here at SoSG!)

I'm thinking mocking. Mocking is good.

I'm siding with Dusty on this one, I'd put my money on mocking. Lots and lots of mocking.

i recently saw an episode of Just Shoot Me with Papa Steve as a ringer for the Blush company softball team.
He pulled a Scioscia-esque move and quit the team because he wanted to concentrate on his job at the magazine. Maya and her ample bosom revealed that she was a star pitcher at Stanford
