Dodgers Increasing Taiwan Revenues 50%

The Dodgers plan to add one more game to their Taiwan exhibition schedule this spring, bringing the total number of games played in Taiwan to three:

The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to add one game during their tour of Taiwan next month in response to strong demand from local baseball fans, organisers said Tuesday.

The Dodgers will now play three exhibition games in Taiwan, Bros Sports Marketing Inc said.

"So many people have called us asking if it was possible to add another game after the tickets were sold out last month," an official at the company told AFP.

The 20,000 tickets for the first two exhibition games, priced from 500 to 5,000 Taiwan dollars (about 15 to 150 US), were snapped up in just six hours after they went on sale in January.

Might this additional game be to pay for Jamie's increased tab for monthly expenses?

BTW, DodgerBlues is back up with a new post that's fairly hilarious. That site never ceases to crack me up.

This has nothing to do with the Dodgers, but fuck NBC. Fuck them for tape delaying what might be the biggest hockey game of my lifetime. Fuck them. Fuck them in the ass.

And while I'm at it, posts from some of my favorite SOSG commentators also crack me up. MLASF I feel your pain.

Nostradamus said...

@MLASF,

Not only that, but the Semifinal and Medal round will be tape delayed, as well, so you have that to look forward to.

So, yeah, NBC can get buggered with a rusty tablespoon.

Steve Sax said...

Mr LA SF, but isn't your anger balanced by the dulcet vocals and natural hair colors of Bob Costas?

Kyle Baker said...

I feel your pain, MLASF. It's all profit-oriented programming, not a morsel for the consumer, then they wonder why the networks have lost 25% of their viewership over the past decade. Wii one can play on their own time, live, and same with DVR recordings. So when they're left pulling ratings that don't even show up as a blip in the already gerrymandered Nielsen ratings, but all they throw out there are lame sitcoms involving fat white guys who are miraculously married to hot skinny white chicks, and the trials and tribulations of their sanitized lives, or when they throw yet another over-produced "reality" TV show at us, but no one shows up to watch, they'll only have themselves to blame.

And I'll stop writing so many long sentences.

Because it reminds you that reality is much more cruel than what exists in the world of the Honeymooners and Flinstones.

Kyle Baker said...

I guess it's aspirational for us chubster white guys. But by the same token, we're not really the audience for that type of show, are we? Most fat white guys I know are watching sports or macho shows, not King of Queens or drivel like that.

@MLASF

Meh. I think its the opposite. I'm perfectly happy to suspend disbelief for interstellar travel or shadowy quasi-governmental conspiracies, but Jim Belushi being married to Courtney Thorne-Smith is beyond the pale?

They're not asking me to really believe in anything more than the basic premise that fat guys are funny.

Kyle Baker said...

@ Mr C-

They're funny because they're fat.

I sure miss that "If you like this post..." widget thingy. I like this post, but I have no idea what other posts I might also like. What's a guy to do? Help!

@dusty

Too true, too true.

Looking over the bobblehead lineup for 2010. No Beard Mode, as we already knew. But now the only bobble representation we have is one of him with a beard. If he insists on remaining shaven, I will insist on having a Blake sans beard bobble.

Steve Sax said...

@Mr C 9.38p: Courtney Thorne-Smith is indeed beyond the pale, from a skintone perspective. But I've always been more of a Kimberly Williams fan myself.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I thought According to Jim had no viewers was because it sucked.

But then again, how did it get renewed so many times?

Truly a question for the ages.

Lack of good comedies in general. When Two and a Half Men is the longest-running comedy on television (save the Simpsons), the pickings are slim. Where is this era's Cheers? Or Seinfeld? Or Friends? Or Taxi?

Can't we start an organized campaign to drive the McCourt's out of LA? Personal greed has become their de-facto operating philosophy, be it through not paying taxes or hiking up prices and decreasing services. Enough is enough!

@Sax: Modern Family and Community are both EXCELLENT. I don't know if they'll have the legs those other classic shows had, but for now they're pretty damn funny.

Steve Sax said...

Point taken on MF and Community. Let's hope they can hold up.

Parks and Rec is starting to hit its stride, too.

I fear that The Office has run its course.

Andy/Erin has given The Office a boost. I think they need to set an end date for the show, though.
