Actual. Baseball. News.

Thanks to Josh S. for the tip:

Both are minor-league deals. Everything about Amezaga screams veteran utilityman; he has experience at every position except catcher and pitcher.

My favorite part of Amezanga's transaction record:

April 20, 2005: Selected off waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates from the Colorado Rockies.

May 5, 2005: Released by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

If you got released by the Pirates after only 15 days (and 4 plate appearances), you are not exactly heading towards something special.

Per Tim Brown:

"Jeff Weaver agrees to minor-league deal with the Dodgers. Weaver was an unsung and effective pitcher for them last season."

Unrelated, but still cool:

I was buying some tickets to see The Dan Band today at Club Nokia in LA Live and saw Tommy Lasorda, Rudy Law, a few other old school Dodgers, and Andre Ethier all show up at the ESPN Zone to sign autographs. I was completely unprepared (was nearby for work) and didn't have anything to get signed. I did manage to snap a few pics of Andre though. It was a cool off season experience that I thought I'd share with you guys.

Sweet, Q7! Did you talk to Andre?

Now it's Ramon Ortiz. Ned's really going through the dustbin isn't he.

Ned's Atomic Dustbin.

I didn't get to talk to Andre. He was being pulled around by his publicist pretty fast. Plus I think I was just in shock because I was so close to a current Dodger with minimal security.
