Chad Billingsley (9-4, 3.14) vs. Braden Looper (7-4, 4.78).
COMMENTS: Ah, the Brewers' Miller Park: home of friendly fans and Secret Stadium Sauce. Although the Dodger Dog will always be first in our hearts (and stomachs), a Milwaukee Brat slathered in the good stuff can also bring one to baseball nirvana. Highly recommended for the next time you're in the greater Milwaukee area.
Gastronomical delights aside, this is Billingsley's last chance to become a ten-game winner before the All-Star break. He's had some hard luck lately and he may not be the National League starter — that honor belongs to Tim Lincecum — but Billingsley's trip to St. Louis is well deserved.
Looper has had a strange career arc, relieving for the first nine years of his career (including closing for the Marlins and Mets) until the Cardinals turned him into a starter in 2007. As a result, he has started against the Dodgers only once, in 2007, when he got the win.

Orel, i think they'll come back to earth at some point
I think it might actually be 30-14, Orel. Hard to count and concentrate on the game at the same time.
That's .681 ball when they hit a home run, and .585 when they don't. If my math is correct.
Troncoso! Way to go!
nas-tee!
Ballsy Tron!
Very nice, Tron!
"Orel, i think they'll come back to earth at some point"
Me too. But I'm still waiting.
Come on, Dodgers! "New Town" has nothing on us!
"What the hell is up with the Giants."
It's bothersome, they should be allowed to win only when Cain and Lincecum start, just because those are very talented pitchers.
Oh, Andre. Maybe he has something on you.
All right, it's Manny's turn.
Manny's tobacco chewing has been a lot more noticeable lately.
WHAT? YES!!!
RUN MANNY RUN
HELL YEAH
EAT IT!
Nice hitting bearded one.
I do love the Comeback Kids.
IBB to Pierre. Juan needs to steal to stay out of the DP.
And since I'm here...
There's no place like home
With your family around you you're never alone
When ya know that your loved
You don't need to roam
Cause there's no place like home
Time's are changing everyday
We won't get by with the same old ways
No-oooo pulling together will make it right
With help from are friends I know we can right
Cause there's no place like home
With your family around you you're never alone
When you know that your loved
You don't need to roam
Cause there ain't no place like
Better believe it
I said their no place like home
"I mean no place child" .
"what do you got to do to beat these guys?" EXACTLY
Wow. Hall sort of blew that one.
This game is almost unbelievable, incredibly fun.
Rancho Ardiendo. It would be nice to make this a blowout in extra innings.
rancho rancho
The Miller Park organist is playing the Tetris theme.
Rancho Ardiendo for the Bison!
VOTE BISON
holy moly!!
Well, that's how we make it a blowout.
BISON GRAND SLAM!!!!
that's for you, Charlie Colostomy!
"That's like the big fuck-you for not putting him in the All-Star Game." —Mrs. Orel
bison!!!
That will do, Kemp. That will do.
This is amazing.
I also called it!
Go Bison!
Good.
God.
Brewers are still in it. I mean, in s--t.
Right on, Mrs. Orel.
Most home runs in a game since the 4+1 game.
Lyons, for the love of god, please stop calling Kemp the "Tinkle Guy." It's disgusting.
Good job non-all-star...!!!
Hey I was just throwing a brick through Charlie Manuels window, did I miss anything?
Does Brox still pitch the bottom? he hasnt pitched in a while
Torre said Broxton was pitching today no matter what.
Tinkle? really? i am glad i dont get the Dodger broadcast when they are doing it
It's ridiculous. He calls Kemp that because "you don't want to go to the bathroom when he's batting, because you will miss something."
It makes him sound even more moronic than usual.
Hit Parade!
great inning guys - lets finish this off
oh lord i hope it doesnt it catch on. At least call him "Beer Run" or something
I'm still in shock about this game.
Lyons started the "Tinkle Guy" thing at least last year. He has only mentioned it a couple of times this year, thankfully. I don't think it can catch on. It's too stupid.
throw strikes, JB
I really don't know how Fielder can be that fat and be a vegetarian professional athlete.
that's ok, JB - weak ground ball hit in the right place. keep throwing strikes
"Hey I was just throwing a brick through Charlie Manuels window, did I miss anything?"
His head.
Although, to be fair, was it officially Manuel's decision to take Werth over Kemp?
Come on, Broxton. No pressure. Just end this.
is he still a veggie? i thought they made him quit when he stopped hitting homers last year. If he stuck with it, good for him.
The Mets guys were talking about Sid Fernandez who went on a baked-potato-and-mustard diet and lost a lot of weight. Then "his fastball couldn't break a pane of glass" in spring training and they made him eat real food again
Seriously.
Not a good night for closers in general.
keep firing it in there, JB
No, as far as I know, Fielder is still a vegetarian. I read something about it at the beginning of this year.
"I really don't know how Fielder can be that fat and be a vegetarian professional athlete."
Frame and metabolism.
What's wrong with brox?
If the Dodgers win this game, they guarantee that they will have the best record in baseball at the break.
This is frustrating.
Good god. This is so ridiculous!
Pull him please.
Something has to be wrong. Fatigue?
Is this Broxton's first appearance since the 13-inning debacle in San Diego?
There's always that old thought that closers just can't pitch in non-pressure situations. Whether that's true or not, he's put himself into a pressure situation, so now it's time to pitch the damn ball.
Yeah, it is, Orel.
Out for a run. I'll take it.
There is one out.
So what happens when we've got a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth tomorrow night? Excellent move, Torre.
Unreal.
Now it's time to pull him.
They're one baserunner away from having the tying run at the plate.
Seriously, pull him. Now.
Get him. Get him NOW!
Is he hurt or something?
What is Torre thinking? What is the possible benefit to leaving Brox in here?
Two down.
WOW! What a way to end the damn game!!!
HOLY MACKERAL!!!!!!
VOTE BISON
AMAZING!
I think he did that on purpose
touchdown!!!!
And now, no matter what, our team is the holder of the best record in baseball at the break.
sooooo....
is JB's toe still troubling him?
You know Kemp is good when you just assume he'll make that catch.
Joe Torre better soul kiss Kemp for that game.
The Dodgers right now have a +105 run differential. That's incredible. The closest team is the Rays, with a +85.
Jayson Werth? Seriously? Jayson Werth is going to the All Star game over Matt Kemp?
Ridiculous.
and Matt's slam was the difference
Nice catch, non-all-star...!!!!!
Sanchez has a no-hitter in San Fran.
JINX!!!
jeez Padres, are you going to just lay down like that? show some heart
Jeebus! I had to follow the game on Gameday Mobile and it was even exciting that way!
what the hell was that, Kooz?
you are a bum and you know it
Sanchez is perfect through 7
Jinx
jinx
jinx
jinx
jinx
How does getting a line drive to the head make you a BETTER pitcher? That can't be medically sound.
Pablo Sandwich with the error to break up the perfect game!
If the Final Vote was still going on, Pablo would have gotten a vote or two from me for that.
oops that was Uribe i guess
I can't believe that I left for dinner after the Brews went up 6-5 in the bottom of the 8th.
Yeah. Uribe. My statement stands, though.
There gies the perfect game. No we just have a no hitter to worry about.
Jinxjinxjinxjinx!!!
hehe nice, Josh
This just in, the Pads are bloody awful.
cmon, Padres, grow some testicles
yeesh - the Pads are making him look like Randy Johnson, circa 2002
I am having trouble containing my rage. After the eighth, I left the restaurant thinking the Brewers had this one. I'm so pissed I missed the ending that I'm ready to destroy my living quarters.
Post-Game Thread is up with pictures galore!
hehe MLASF enjoy the win
The giants should get Sandwich and Uribe on Dance Your A$$ Off
hit him on the elbow!
TiVo, MLASF!
aaron rowand is tough. he's the only one of the giants players i respect
non-pitchers i mean. i respect Timmah and Randy
3 to go for Dirty Sanchez - can he do it? he looked a little wild last inning...
I have much respect for Lincecum.
apparently this would also be his first complete game if he can close it out
holy shit, great catch by Rowand
Sanchez does it
this is the Giants' world series for this season
And his dad is there. I hate the Giants, but that's kinda nice.
last no-hitter for SF was Montefusco in 76
i really like Aaron Rowand
and that was a cool scene with Sanchez and his Dad
that was an uncomfortable scene when he hugged the lady from CSN
