Hiroki Kuroda (3-5, 4.57) vs. Kyle Lohse (4-6, 4.35).
COMMENTS: Did you sit through last night's slogfest? Did you see the announcement that Jason Schmidt is scheduled to start tomorrow? Yeah, I'd be depressed too.
If it seems the Dodgers can't score to save their lives — they have 33 hits but only three runs over the last three games — then Lohse might be just what the executioner ordered. It's his fourth start since coming off the disabled list earlier this month; in his last outing, he was roughed up by the Phillies. Of course, they had the help of Cliff Lee, who, upon learning he was traded to Philadelphia, traveled back in time and actually had a pinch-hit RBI single. The Dodgers won't have that advantage because Ned Colletti refuses to trade Clayton Kershaw.
(Don't forget this is Game 3 of SoSG's 100SS series!)

Furcal, SS
Hudson, 2B
Manny, LF
Ethier, RF
Blake, 3B
Loney, 1B
Kemp, CF
Ausmus, C
Kuroda, P
I hope we fare better against the Ordinals, but I'm pretty sure we'll still come up 2nd.
Its high time Matt Kemp moves up in the order. Casey shined when Manny left, but he's been craptastic for over a month. I say switch them, Kemp hits 5th and Blake hits 7th (today, 8th when Martin is in there).
Glad J. Mart is sitting. He needs to get his head straight so my head doesn't explode. Russ- I love you man, and I often wear your shirt, but damn bro, sort it all out.
I felt depressed this morning when i found out Andruw Jones hit 2 HRs last night. Douche.
Yeah. I don't think I've ever hated an Dodger/ex-Dodger more than Andruw Jones.
Happy 150th anniversary of the box score, by the way:

bat Kemp 2nd!
"The Cardinal" (bird)
The Cardinal are a family of birds found in North American. They are robust, seed-eating birds, with strong bills. They are typically associated with open woodland. The sexes usually have distinctive appearances; the family is named for the red plumage of males of the type species. The "buntings" in this family are sometimes generically known as "tropical buntings" to distinguish them from the true buntings.
Now I'm going to have to wait to see if anyone "Bunts" in the game tonight.....hee hee!!
The Dodger:
Dodger is a term used in sailing and sailboats. It is a frame-supported canvas structure providing a helmsman and other occupants of a sailboat partial protection from harsh weather and seas.
Now if only it could protect us from loosing.......
An hour to go....maybe I can get it up closer to 100 by game time!
Cardinals are Red
Dodgers are Blue
A win tonight
Would be something new......
Ok, so it was a weak attempt at humor........
Does anyone realize it's Kuroda, who gave a quality start on Sunday, against Lohse, who was battered by the Phillies?
Let's give them some positive support.
It's all positive support flowing from me. Can't wait til game start. Speed up already, time!
Does the game take a back seat to the upcoming trade deadline?
I want the Dodgers to win, but what moves will happen that will make winning easier? I STILL think we need a more reliable bat! Of course I stand ALONE on this front. Nevermind the last 3 games.
Interesting fact: we have given up more runs in the 8th inning than any other inning this year at 63.
The only other inning that is close is the third. 59.
I hope that the majority of those third run innings are the result of our fifth starter getting beat up the second time around.
At least the 8th inning is shored up with Sherrill en-tow. right?
Go Ninja Pimp!
Slow crawl to 100 today. Everybody's busy refreshing MLBTR.
LA Times: Dodgers still in discusions with Toronto.
FOX Sports: LA Times article is inaccurate.
Who do I trust: Robothal or Shaikin? Jeez, this is tough.
Yeah dusto I think you may be a one man army in that subject, it's admirable though.
Karros needs another trip to the barber.
Fox sports actually took some time off roidwatch to talk about some other stuff?
Since the ASB (13 games) we are averaging 3.9 runs per game and over the last 7 games it's even worse at 3.1. The team averages aren't as bad as you'd expect, of course the power numbers will always leave you something to be desired.
I guess I just need to be more realistic, because what team doesn't have a slide through the course of the season? I'd still rather see us land a "big bat" whoever that might be.
Collins and Lyons look like they're on vacation in Hawaii.
Less than 20 hours to the trade deadline.
Let's go get Russ ortiz. He is available now. Lol.
Unless it involves Roy Halladay, I don't want the Dodgers to do anything tomorrow. They can get pitchers a lot cheaper through waivers.
Let the commencement beginulate.
That was not a good way to start a game.
Alright I'm watching the x games.
Okay, we lost.
Did Poo-holes score?
Anyone else looking at Gameday? Kuroda is throwing serious gas tonight. I like that.
Yes, he did.
Yeah, but his location sucks. Ankiel just missed a homer.
Dusto - The Dodgers have at least 3 "big bats." Manny, Ethier and Kemp. Blake can be a 4th.
Unless Pujols or Fielder is coming to replace him, there is no point in trading Loney.
MLSF - He made Rasmus look like the rookie he is.
His pitch to Holliday was right over the plate.
BTW, I am kind of glad Albert is breaking out of his "slump" at the end of this series. So long as he doesn't hit 2 HR tonight anyway.
MLSF - It moved enough that Holliday only hit a little dunker.
I Alivandi: I am and he looks he has lots of command. I'm afraid when they see him for the second time, it could become into BP
@I Alivandi:"Unless Pujols or Fielder is coming to replace him, there is no point in trading Loney."
My point. King James or Free James Loney should stay.
Unless Pujols, Fielder, Teixeira or Morneau want to wear Dodger blue.
Dusto - There's your big bat.
C'mon James, show Dusto why he's completely wrong.
Dusto, why do you think Loney sucks?i'm really curious about that
Kemp comes through!
At least he moved the runner
Bison!!!
GO KEMP GO
Smart base running by the Bison.
BTW, Eric Collins MUST go. He is awful.
Tied game, they won't be swept.
Nice work by Kuroda.
Ryan has awesome stirrups but he doesnt fold his pants correctly. Dissapointing.
Trade him Dusto?
if we trade loney we would have to get a better shortstop too. Maybe thats why Dusto wants loney to go.
This was a great inning by Hiro
No more stirrups. Lugo's in for Ryan.
Wow. Raffy looked like he was swinging a bunt for the fences there.
Raffy took a home run swing there, but didn't get the results.
No Psycho, Weaver wasn't in Seattle before the WS in STL. He was with the Angels and was actually DFA'd to make room for his brother.
Another 1-2-3 inning.
Is Manny injured?
BOOO!!!
Holliday is way beyond annoying on these games. Plunk him at his next at bat!
Thats not very sportsmanlike Karina.
What about the Children?!
Epale, y'all! Are we looking at getting swept for the first time this season?
Fanerman, there are no baseball games on tv tonight, Yankees-White Sox game is rain delayed so guess what i'm watching: "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"
Does Mr. Potter have a spell for clutch hitting?
I refuse to believe Kyle Lohse will hold us to one run tonight.
James Loney flexing his warning-track power!
@Nic j: Holliday is bullying the Dodgers, hence he needs punishment as any other bully.
Children need to learn about fighting for their rights.
Have we been hitting pop flies all game?
Ausmus at least gets the pitcher out of the way!
Orel, pretty much or groundouts to the right side
Unfortunately not, Nic j. There's an unforgivable curse called Imperio, which allows to control people's behavior.
The only way could be to imperio the Cardinals. However that spell is illegal and it is very dark magic.
how many games would you get suspended for that spell? it might be worth it.
Hooray! Another two LOB!
The ball apparently is NOT carrying tonight.
that inning pretty much sums up the whole series. Close, but not enough.
@Fanerman "The ball apparently is NOT carrying tonight."
Except if you're Matt Holliday.
@Nic j: it's punished with jail but if you curse it well, maybe no one will notice. We could try that, does anyone has a wand?
@Nic j: it's punished with jail but if you curse it well, maybe no one will notice. We could try that, does anyone has a wand?
Karina: Confundus would work.
Confundus might be dangerous, a confused pitcher could throw a ball right to the hitter's head. Though it could be useful for the outfielders, "misplacing the ball" like they were playing at the Metrodome :)
Julio Lugo, you piece of shit.
Our starters might start throwing at OUR batters if they dont start getting decent run support.
I don't think we're going to get to 800 comments tonight.
@Nic j: you're right. At this rate, we could confound and imperio the whole Cardinals team and the Dodgers position players, to see if we can watch some competitive baseball.
@Orel: i love how you express your frustration.
Jackie Johnson fans, tonight is a good night for you.
It is a bit slow.
Mid game reality check: the Cardinals are just up by one, they can win this game.
I agree with HLACK earlier this thread, the lineup could have used some shaking up.
Dammit, Manny tagged that and it didn't even make the warning track.
Wow, Gameday says Manny almost got that one.
@Orel:hahahahahahahahahaha
No one will bite?
Where's Eric Karros?
come on people
100!
I sense an EK appearance soon.
There goes my one chance today.
NO WIN FOR 100
Sax pimps Karina!
Sax, you nailed it but you didn't claim it!
Ethier walks with two out, paving the way for another LOB for blake
One of the hundreds posts last night happened during an exciting play.
Blake, in play, no outs!
That's right, I didn't claim it = 0 points
1st & 2nd. Guess how many outs.
C'mon, baby-smooth James!
King James, try to prove you don't suck
Blake singles with Andre on first, paving the way for a Loney 2-LOB and 0-for-RISP
New Calvin Klein scent: Futility
@Steve Sax: "Ethier walks with two out, paving the way for another LOB for blake"
So many enthusiasm won't let you sleep tonight.
come on loney! Do something!!!!
@Orel: One is a very good name for a Dodgers scent this week.
dusto is even cheering for Loney.
Desperate times....
*grammar edit: so much enthusiasm...(sorry)
Just don't strike out or foul out.
THAT WAS UNEXPECTED
Anyone understand the 5-7 mph difference between release speed and result speed? Clearly, it's the first one that is registered.
That would have been ball four.
I want to see James Loney Freed. But the 0-for-3 makes me wonder.
Le sigh!
and... Loney still sucks! swang at ball 4.
Can you say eight-game losing streak?
@mr la sf: agreed, that ball was wayyyyyy outside
you know it is much easier to watch bad games on gameday than TV. Its hard to stay made at the little batter in white pajamas.
Steve Sax, maybe the ball just slows down due to drag. Or maybe they're only measuring horizontal speed.
*mad
kyle lohse looks like a stud, since we've let him get away with one run through six innings
The Dodgers: Making Joe Schmoe look like Cy Young since 2009
Steve, Free James Loney went 4-7 with one RBI last night.
we really got to beam somebody
Slumps happen. This game isn't over yet. We'll get through it.
Fanerman and Karina are our resident optimists.
There's really no one culprit for the crappy clutch hitting. It just takes an entire team, like the flu or jock itch .
I dunno Orel. We have the best record in baseball. If we can't be optimistic when we hit bumps in the road now, what would this place be like if we sucked all the time?
its like the pitching wants to win, but the offense isnt willing.
Kuroda still has two more innings in his arm.
Other than Beard, all of the Dodger hits have come from the back three.
So much for Kuroda staying in for another two innings.
Betcha JP swings at the first pitch here.
keep in mind SF has a four game series with Philly right now. So the giants could be in line for a rought series right now.
If it's a called strike, he swings at the second hit.
*pitch, not hit
You're right, Fanerman. These past seven games have been brutal, but at least the whole season hasn't been like this.
And the Mets have beaten the Rockies at least three out of four.
fanerman- point well taken... we could be as bad as the padres... or even worse, gulp, the nationals. No wonder no one goes to the games.
WP, Ausmus takes second.
if you really think about it, we were playing pretty much the same way a year ago. Then something magical happened.
JPSQ!
and Kuroda has 2 more innings left in him and he gets pulled for someone who will do something just as bad as he could have. Pierre.
Pierre sucks.
Lugo can't get Pierre at first, but he probably saved a run.
1st & 3rd, 1 out. NO WAY we don't score! Guaranteed!
he still sucks and we should have traded him for something, anything... Arthur Rhodes would have been a great pick up.
Kuroda pitched a good game. That can be important going forward.
Speed lessens the chance of a DP.
When Dusto doesn't like you, there's nothing you can do to change his mind.
SCORE!
SCORE!
FURC-YEAH!
i sense an unintentional intentional walk here. Huddy has been struggling.
Dusto is a man firm in his convictions.
nevermind. WOO HOO!
The lead? What?
steiner is terrible.
wait, what happened?
Was that a double play?
Im not familiar with this concept. What the hell is a RBI?
I guess that's why Torre is the manager. Good move putting in Pierre.
So if we go touch every base, we get a... run? What a novel idea!!
O-Dog takes a walk! Manny walks!
Mamacita, donde esta Manny Claus.
I mean, Manny's up!
anyone else still get the CHILLS when manny steps up to the plate. At any time he can take you deep.
The Mannywood of traveling fans.
Anything but a DP, Manny.
Tough call for strike two there.
Manny needs to belt one so Ox doesn't have to pitch.
Was that a Dodger fan trying to interfere with Pujols?
was that a dodger fan trying to smack the ball out?
if they have to lean over its fair game for the fans.
I still think Kuroda should have been left in there. Pierre is worthless and lucky. Kuroda really could have saved a bit of the penn.
I still remember when nobody did anything to stop Gabe Kapler from robbing Russ of a homer last season.
There's something about trying to obstruct the player in an empty aisle that seems wrong.
Pujols is an excellent defender! (Loney is NOT!)
Dusto, I think the ship has sailed on the broken clock argument when it comes to Torre's decisions. You don't win four trophies with luck, even if you manage the Yankees.
@MLASF "I still remember when nobody did anything to stop Gabe Kapler from robbing Russ of a homer last season."
Erin (#1) was at that game!
Andre, that just sucked.
Ethier used to hit lefties so well. What happened?
Mike, why Ford and why now?
Ahhh. We need insurance!
oh my goodness, Jackie
I think me at my age (24) i really appreiciate Torre. Think about all the great managers that have coached the dodgers in my lifetime, lets see there was Tommy Lasorda and..... Well that it.
I know Torre isnt perfect, but he is the best we have had in a really really long time.
JJ's got it going on tonight!
I like Torre a LOT better than Jim Tracy.
Fuck
that was quick.
'sup MLASF? (7+3)*(40/2).
Of course. That had to happen.
lol
200
Pujols wasn't great in defense when he first came to the Majors. He worked hard to develop his potential
