Post-Game 49 Thread: Fiers Burns Dodgers

FORDPALM

BREWERS 2, DODGERS 1

Nathan Eovaldi was hot, allowing only a two-run home run to a classless douche over seven innings. But Brewers starter Michael Fiers (pronounced \ˈfī(-ə)rs\) was hotter, muzzling the Dodgers for a measly run over those same seven. All-around nice guy Matt Kemp went 1 for 4 in his return from the DL, including a deep fly ball that died at the right-field warning track. DAMMIT

The Dodgers had a look in the ninth when John Axford hit Andre Ethier after allowing a Kemp double, but Jerry Hairston Jr. (.394/.474/.530) inexplicably tried to bunt the runners over. The count went to two strikes and he proceeded to hit into a double play. James Loney was next up, so you know what happened there. DAMMIT

Dodgers drop to 32-17, Brewers improve to 21-28. That's right, we just dropped two straight to a team that's 10-15 on the road. DAMMIT

What first basemen can we trade for? i don't think Carlos Lee would want to come to LA.

He must hang out with Roy Oswalt.

looks like the Gints are going to gain a little ground on us.

I was worried about this stretch. Brewers seemingly have our number this year. Then comes a long cross-country road trip. And I think the Giants are at home for almost all that time.

Halladay going down and playing all the crappy teams in the AL west will help us out a bit.

I was hoping the Angels would continue their woes until after we played them.

We wanted a test. Well, here it is.

What, we didn't want a test? Never mind.

NicJ said...

Can we take the same test Braun took?

You can fail that one without consequence.

Well I at least hope all the fans got their Dodger dolls with the bobbling heads to play with tonight.

I was worried about this 162 game stretch. It is always brutal.

Where was Bobby tonight? True day off.

Searching for Bobby Abreu.

Time for Loney to go. That's my only comment.

If Loney goes then my Free James Loney shirt goes from being ironic to irrelevant.

There are a lot of night owls on this PGT.

I just saw the highlights and saw FJL's weak grounder to end the game. Come on, we have to make a change here, or at least give Loney a week off.

But Loney is good with the glove.

*rolls eyes*

Dusty Baker said...

We have to make a change. Sorry, he's a good man and great with the glove, but he's causing us to lose games, or at least not giving us the best chance to win in situations where the game is on the line. I'm done with him.

Steve Sax said...

I agree, his defense is great, but unless he can hit the ball with that glove (based on his lack of power with the bat, I'm wondering if he would get similar results), I'm challenged here to justify Loney continuing at first
