Jaime Jarrín Gets the T-Shirt Treatment

As much as I respect Jaime Jarrin, I can't say I'm very familiar with his work due to my devotion to Vin and, uh, my monolinguistic capability. So if the Dodgers' promotions department can't shoehorn another bobblehead into their schedule, it's at least gratifying to see them come up with an especially nifty stadium giveaway (somewhere Bill Plaschke is congratulating himself) that's both unique and a tribute to Jarrin's legacy.

30,000 T-shirts like the one pictured above will be given out at Dodger Stadium when the Dodgers play the Angels on Monday, June 11. Each shirt will be printed with an excerpt from Jarrin's home run call, "¡Se va, se va, y se fue...despidala con un beso!"

From a Dodgers press release:

Jarrín has called more than 8,200 regular season games, 25 MLB All-Star games, more than 100 postseason games and 20 World Series during his more than half century with the Dodgers. Jarrín started calling games for the Dodgers in 1959, a World Series championship year for the club.

Jarrín precedes the establishment of Dodger Stadium, having called games while the Dodgers played at the L.A. Coliseum upon the club's move to Los Angeles from Brooklyn. For seven different decades, the Hall of Famer has been the Spanish-language storyteller of the Los Angeles Dodgers' greatest moments for countless Dodger fans and families.

"The Dodgers and our fans are extremely fortunate to have Hall of Famer Jaime Jarrín as our voice in Spanish," said Dodger owner Earvin "Magic" Johnson. "Jaime is a Los Angeles icon, one who has inspired several generations of Los Angeles Latinos to dream big. He's been instrumental in instilling a love of Dodger baseball throughout the Los Angeles area. We salute Jaime, a Dodger institution, and are grateful for all that he has given to the Dodgers and to Dodger fans."

Translation:

It's going, its going, its going, Farewell with a kiss.

*loose translation gringo style, perhaps Karina can clarify the proper call*

Probably a fancy way to say "Kiss it goodbye."

Nice move by the Dodgers, though I personally don't like t-shirt giveaways because they don't fit big dudes like me.

I can confirm Nomo is a big dude. Next to him I feel like Dee Gordon crossed with Tyrion Lannister.
