Post-Game 113 Thread: Eugenio Velez And The Forgotten James Loney HR

DIAMONDBACKS 4, DODGERS 3

The Dodgers made sure that Arizona stayed right in the thick of the NL West race, losing the game and allowing the Diamondbacks to keep pace with the Giants (who lead by a half-game).

Clayton Kershaw went 6.1 IP and gave up only five hits, but unfortunately that included a first-inning two-run HR to Kelly Johnson, as well as a seventh-inning two-run HR to Cody Ransom. Kershaw takes the loss and is now 13-5, though he did add 7 Ks to his league-leading 184 Ks.

Oh, and James Loney hit a solo HR in the fifth. But no one noticed, so maybe it didn't happen in the first place. We did notice, however, that Eugenio Velez' 0-for-3 "performance" today (and I use that loosely), makes him 0-for-19 on the season. Yeah, let's keep traipsing that steaming pile of shit out there. That's a great idea.

Actually, Spanky pledged a vow of sobriety until Loney homers. Long live Spank the Drunk.
