Ted Lilly (8-13, 4.43) vs. Wade LeBlanc (2-3, 5.02)
The Dodgers go for their eighth win in nine games today, and the Padres could be swept altogether (can you believe we're even talking about a sweep in our third consecutive series?). Will Lilly be able to dust off the cobwebs of his sub-par season, and possibly even throw in some brushback pitches if necessary? In today's afternoon matchup (the Dodgers' last half-price non-beer food-and-drink game of the year), we need to hope the Dodgers aren't bristling from the early start.
Sax will NOT be at today's game. However, for those of you out-of-town folk, you're in luck; this is MLB.tv's free game of the day. Don't schedule any meetings from 12n to 3.30p!

Sax has 353 badges going into "play" today.
And Sax will be talking in the third person today.
You're exactly 350 ahead of me. And I have no idea whatsoever how I got them and what they mean.
GNATS FANS GRIPPING.
AP (San Francisco), PPR, Special Reporter on Assignment
Today in San Francisco, casual arrogance, pathetic baseball knowledge, and bloated gloating trash-talking has ceased completely.
An eerie calm has swept over those who, until recently, could not resist getting up on their little hind legs and yapping to anyone and everyone that their "team" had just won the holiest of sports hardware.
"We're tanking... hard", "Oh my God, they're pressing at the plate", and "Oh no, the Dodgers are going to take second" are phrases becoming all too common in this distressed little town.
Sightings of blue and white-clad baseball fans are on the rise. Strange omens, strange days.
Sellers SS
Gwynn LF
Kemp CF
Rivera RF
Blake 3B
Loney 1B

Bud Black can kiss my booty
Booooooooo
Barajas bomb.
Velez strikeout. still 0fer
Is "Velez" Spanish for suck-ass beisbol player?
close, vales = worthless
Gnats actually scored 2 runs just now, city is electric
Okay, I come back to see Velez is 0-for-2, which makes him a clean 0-for-30 so far.
If he were to get a hit in his next AB, his average would skyrocket to .032.
gwynn throwing error compounding the alberto gonzalez RBI-double.
4-2 Dodgers with two out in the sixth, and Lilly is done.
We're winning?
Giants up 3-0. However, Cody Ross just got HBP, and then CS. Ha ha!
Parrino with a one-out walk, and that will be all for Lindblom
Elbert Ks Venable, and that's it for him.
MacD to enter with two out in the top of the seventh inning
Logan Forsythe flies to center for the third out.
Still 4-2 Dodgers.
Barajas with a leadoff double as Cunningham had difficulty fielding in right field
Giants up 4-0 and rolling
Jamey Carroll can't place the sac bunt and Barajas is stuck at second with one out
354 badges. Not sure who the new one is.
Oeltjen Ks on four pitches. Dammit, Barajas is going to get stranded out there.
Velez is out of the game, so he will be hitless at the very least through all of August.
0-for-30!
Sellers walks with two out but Gwynn lines out to end the seventh inning.
Apparently the Braves tried to get Jamey Carroll but the Dodgers won't let Ackbar go.
It's a trap!
Tony Gwynn with a great catch on O-Dog for the second out. Charley sounded like some of the buttons popped on his shirt collar there

Arsenal Raids Everton: Mr. C Dances!
@rbn
I'm not sad to see Arteta moving south, nor am I sad to see my Reds unloading dead weight.
I would have liked to keep Miereles, but we've got plenty of other talent in the midfield.
RVP now has fellow horse-placenta connoisseur Yossi Benayoun to exchange recipes with, too!
I am the only one who doesn't, yes doesn't want Velez to get a hit?
