Nathan Eovaldi pitched a decent enough game as the starter: 5.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER off a solo shot from Lance Berkman (that was jacked 421 feet to center, getting fireworks from Busch Stadium), 2 Ks, 1 BB. However, when your offense prior to the ninth inning consisted of James Loney (3-for-4 before being subbed by Trent Oeltjen) and Rod Barajas (2-for-4), there wasn't a lot of hope. Josh Lindblom, Scott Elbert, and Matt Guerrier each pitched a scoreless inning to keep us down by the one run, but we looked largely impotent.
In fact, the first time the Dodgers got to the Cardinals was in the eighth inning, when a bee sting (or something (see picture caption; it was apparently just a moth)) felled Matt Holliday in left field (Holliday left holding his ear and was replaced by Corey Patterson). But then came the ninth: a leadoff HBP to Juan Rivera (PR Justin Sellers), which chased Chris Carpenter (8.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 Ks). Then Arthur Rhodes struck out Andre Ethier (capping off a 0-for-4 evening for 'Dre). And then, improbably, Aaron Miles tripled off of Fernando Salas, causing a chorus of boos from the Cardinals crowd. And Rod Barajas then hit a smoker to short which was misfielded by former Dodger Rafael Furcal, who compounded it by coming home with a bad throw wide of the plate (on the first-base side), allowing Miles to scamper in with the go-ahead run. Casey Blake PH for Eusuckio Velez and promptly GIDP, but the damage was done, with the Dodgers scoring two in the ninth to take a 2-1 lead.
Javy Guerra came in and got Albert Pujols to fly out to the infield and got Patterson to ground to second. Then Rafael Furcal came in with two out and Jamey Carroll returned Furcal's misplay favor (to be fair, it was a tough grounder that Carroll tried to barehand while charging, and when he couldn't pick up the ball there was no play). Founding Father Jon Jay then flied to left field and the Dodgers had stolen the game outright.

DUDE!
Suck it, Ordinals!
I want to say a lot of rude things so as to offend the number of Cards management and press that I'm sure you boys referred to this site.
So:
*whips out johnson, wags it*
Where is the PGT pic from?
My weekend in Corpus Christi.
I still want to catch up to that Cards fan i've seen at DS a few times. During the 09 season we got whooped by then and then we were winning against their 5th starter and he was leaving, so i see someone yell something at him and he says "We'll see in the playoffs", of course that was the infamous Holliday crotch drop playoff :P
Jackpot
We are here in the hotel bar with Mattingly, Colletti, and Psycho
And when I say "with", I mean I can see them but I'm not talking with any of them
How expensive are those beers, Sax?
And Honeycutt. And Kershaw.
Dusty, it's funny that you asked. The local brew, Clark Street Brew, is only $5/pint and very good.
TELL KERSHAW I THINK HE'S AWESOME
And Blake.
TELL BLAKE THAT I THINK HE WAS GREAT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND I THINK HE COULD STILL BE GREAT BUT HE NEEDS TO SHAKE OFF THESE NAGGING INJURIES AND ALSO THAT HIS BEARD IS AWESOME
Wait, why am I telling Sax to relay these messages for me? He and I are the same person.
