Game 110 Thread: August 3 @ Pads, 7p

Ted Lilly (7-10, 5.02) vs. Tim Stauffer (6-8, 3.10).

I know ERA isn't the most comprehensive stat, but did you know Ted Lilly has the 103rd worst ERA among qualifying MLB starters? Yowza! It's a good thing he's only making $7 million this year...plus $10.5 million next year...plus $12 million in 2013...plus a $3.5 million signing bonus. (cries)

If there's an NL West team that might make us feel better about the Dodgers' misfortunes, it's the Padres. How bad are the Padres? They're the only team the Dodgers have swept this season — and tonight the Dodgers are in position to do it twice. Thank you, Padres, for sucking even more than us.

Tonight's big question: Can the Padres (slugging .333 with 57 home runs as a team, both last in the MLB) hit a ball out of Petco off of Ted Lilly (.474 slugging-against with 23 home runs allowed, 4th in MLB)?

It's like an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. Only the exact opposite.

A stoppable force meeting a movable object?

Steve Sax said...

What's your guess on HR off Lilly tonight?

I'm guessing two.

Neeebs said...

Furcal hits a 3R HR today. He had
4 RBIs

Spank said...

Shit! KCAL game.

Neeebs said...

@Sax:

Yeah, but are you watching the game and following this GT, Mr. C?

Jason said...

Blogger mobile is acting all regular-Blogger-like on me.

Dusty Baker said...

What is that asshole with an LA hat doing cheering catching a Pod Ray HR?

Fred's Brim said...

Ted, I don't like you

Jason said...

Movable object it is.

Fred's Brim said...

Intolerable object?

Fred's Brim said...

Mattingly's thrown in the towel, has Guerrier up in the pen

Fred's Brim said...

wow that was a real hit by Navarro

Steve Sax said...

Dodgers: Ted Lilly has only given up one run through 5+. If you don't fucking score some runs, you're wasting this gift.

Fred's Brim said...

haha O-Dogg not covering on the bunt!

Steve Sax said...

Back to back singles? No fucking way

Fred's Brim said...

Jamie gets the bunt down with 2 strikes - nice work!

Fred's Brim said...

oh no, how is Loney going to fuck us this time?

Dusty Baker said...

I just said the following: "Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division - they can all kiss my fuckin' ass!"

It's been a long day, folks.

Dusty Baker said...

Loney....why does it have to be Loney?

Fred's Brim said...

Jason said...

Fred's Brim said...

Josh S. said...

Bullshit. Miles has no strike zone.

Fred's Brim said...

Miles looks like a 2/3 Rod Barajas

Dusty Baker said...

Ump has been calling that a strike, so I can't complain about the call.

Jason said...

Did Miles just get ejected?

Dusty Baker said...

Hopefully, FB.

Dusty Baker said...

Fred's Brim said...

Dusty Baker said...

We look like the Pod Rays have looked the last couple of nights, defensively.

Jason said...

This could have gone better.

Dusty Baker said...

Mrs Dusty: Is this our second string?

Me: No, pretty much our main lineup.

Fred's Brim said...

yeah, this may be our best lineup

Dusty Baker said...

Warm up the gorditas - it's almost Taco Bell time!

Jason said...

Vin: "Chad Qualls says he grew up a Dodgers fan."

Me: "Who didn't?"

Fred's Brim said...

Juan Rivera will be one of those Dodgers where you look at some old rosters on Baseball Reference years from now and ask "Juan Rivera was a Dodger?"

Ned, please don't resign him

Fred's Brim said...

New owners, please don't resign Ned

Fred's Brim said...

Hawksworth needs to keep that shit down

Dusty Baker said...

@FB

Like Juan Marichal?

Fred's Brim said...

keep the ball down, stupid

Paul said...

I am thinking that whatever a player's avg is with the Topes just minus that by A 100 points and you will get their major league avg.

Fred's Brim said...

Juan Marichal, Babe Ruth, Ricky Henderson, Dickie Schofield

Dusty Baker said...

Rickey retired as a Dodger, even!

Dusty Baker said...

Strike 'em out, throw 'em out! And it wasn't against our offense!

Jason said...

I did not see that coming.

Paul said...

Time for a grand slam!

*cries*

Paul said...

Well at least Dinner can't be the last out.

Paul said...

Even when Dinner has a good AB it ends crappy.

Paul said...

This ump has a snowman strike zone.

Jason said...

To quote Spank,

BOOOOOOOOOOO!

Fred's Brim said...

I was sitting in the WORST Dave and Buster's in Orange seeking anyone who would tune one of their 200 TV's to the Dodger game. By the 5th inning, a manager corrected the situation.

Still, their food sucked (and I like D&B's).

I did get my food and beer comped, though.

Jason said...

@RB

Did you get your game tokens comped, too?
