World Cup Thread: USA vs. Algeria, 7a

This is it, the final game for the US in Group C play. And it doesn't get any simpler than this: Win, and you're in.

Or, tie vs. Algeria and hope that England loses to Slovenia.

Or, of course, there's the scenario where we tie and Slovenia and England tie but England does not outscore USA by 2+ goals. Okay, so maybe it's not that simple. Just win the damn game, US. Make like a Dad with some cojones on Father's Day, and stop settling for these ridiculous ties.

GO USA!

I want good, solid wins from both USA and ENG so they can both advance and look good coming out of the group.

Come on, ENG! We can't lose to these Charlie Brown lookin' fools!

Algeria have been attacking early. I'll bet US defenders and keepers need to change their undies at half.

Listening on ESPN Radio. Tommy Smyth makes not being able to see it an OK thing

I cannot fathom why Joey COle can't get a match. Why have him on the squad? He's the most creative ENG player and he hasn't had a sniff yet.

Tommy Smyth is love him or hate him. Most hate him. I don't mind him.

US came close but was offsides.

FUCK YEAH!

God damn I hate not having pints while watching.

US needs to spend less time whining about disallowed goals and just stick some more in. Dempsey is still whining like my sister - just get stuck in and play, lad!

Come on, Frankie, keep the fucking ball down on the pitch! You know it flies.

What's with the negative ENG tweet, Karina? Dang! Lay off us.

Come on USA.

England up 1-0, US still tied. We need to win!

Another one coming up for ENG...I can feel it.

ENG crowd willing the lads to get another one. How does Rooney keep missing? It's like Ethier continuing to hit the ball well right into the CF's glove at the warning track.

I can't imagine that either of these scores will hold. Someone will have to take a big risk, and be rewarded or punished for it accordingly.

Joey Cole on for Rooney.

This is also the way my workday will go.

73 minutes, no score.

The tension is cool and all, but I feel like I'm watching the Dodgers' offense in interleague play.

Krusty Baker said...

Hold the ball, ENG! Almost there!

Krusty Baker said...

ENG are through!!!!!!!!!! Hell fuckin' yeah!

And let me say: I;'ll take it.

Krusty Baker said...

@KB

At least they'll be in the other bracket. Not so much bumbling around the ENG matches.
