Just as Ely-mania was going to ascend to a new level, thanks to his solid first inning and a RBI single in the top of the second inning, the phenomenon hit a big speed bump. Bronson Arroyo outshone his rival starter by hitting a three-run home run in the bottom of the second, John Ely struggled through 4.2 IP (7 ER, 3 K, 3 BB, 3 HR), and some of the few Dodger regulars in the lineup were in the lineup only in name (Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier each went 0-for-4, which didn't complement Garret Anderson's 0-for-4, 5 LOB well). The Dodgers head off for Boston tied with the idle Padres for first place, and with the Giants a mere half-game behind.

Padilla is scheduled to face Wakefield on Saturday. Over-under of 20 runs?
Too bad we can't run Haeger out there.
I mean, uh, I'm glad we can't run Haeger out there.
Lousy Communists.
I'll take 2 out of 3 on the road to a 1st place team most any day.
Except today.
Well things are getting interesting now, aren't they?
And, yeah, what DB said. The Reds are pretenders in the central.
Lousy Communists.
I have here in my hand a list of two
hundred and five that were known to the Commissioner of Baseball as being members of the Cincinnati Reds.
Don't make me get my pinko-sympathizer propaganda, Dusty.
I want two of three in Boston this weekend. I will even take a loss on Saturday if we can get the other two
Plus they are the Reds Ox. Gotta keep them commies down, man or bovine!
Fuck that, Give me a Lakers win tonight and a Dodgers sweep for maximum humiliation (and I even kinda like the sox)
The fate of the world rests with the clash between the ineptitude of Cincinnati and the Dodger spirit throughout other parts of the world.
Mr. C has it right. Show no mercy!
Anyone who doesn't think the Lakers will win will be hauled in front of the House Un-American Activities Committee.
NOOO! I can't go in front of HUAC again! Not after the noodle incident...
