Chad Billingsley (6-2, 3.74) vs. Tommy Hanson (5-3, 3.78).
COMMENTS: Okay, who else thought the game was over after Atlanta tied it up last night? The Dodgers and the NL East are definitely not two flavors that go great together, so it was nice to see a late-innings victory, even if it did cost Clayton Kershaw a win. (Okay, that was your Post-Game Thread.)
Tonight the Dodgers field another favorable match-up (at least according to Mr. Accu Score, who puts the Dodgers at 57% favourites (Mr. Score is a Brit)), with a somewhat struggling Hanson (5.09 ERA in May) against Chadley, who last time out gave up three HRs and four runs in his first two innings but was mentally strong enough (ahem, critics) to follow that with six scoreless. That was the Balk-Off Game, which totally, certainly, positively probably won't happen again tonight.
Oh yeah, and SoSG Sax will be at tonight's game, Field level, third base side. Post a comment if you're nearby and want to grab a beer!

thanks for the "favourite" spelling, BTW.
It's weird that the only starter I currently don't have confidence in is Hiro.
Exactly...it's like "Monster Cheerios is pitching - we GOT this" vs. "God only knows how Hiro is going to get out of the first inning."
Of course, we thought the same things re Kid K and Bills up until a few weeks ago. Fortunes change, pitchers find rhythm - that's the way a 162-game season goes. I anticipate his next start closely, though, as it could be something of a bellwether.
maybe hiro should grow a beard. beards make everyone better.
I keep trying to tell Mrs Dusty that (about beards) but she don't wanna listen.
Hiro would look pretty sinister if he sported a fu.
has anyone seen those "what i do in the offseason" videos they show on dodgervision between innings? They have on on blake dewitt talking about archery and he has a beard that would rival casey blakes.
Garlands luck may finally be running out.
Yep - watching Phiwwies starting to put hurt on Pod Rays and Judy Garland.
Nic, now that's an avatar!
I'm still optimistic about Hiro. He's got the most experience out of anyone in the rotation, and while he has hit a rough spot, I think he can turn it around.
I'm excited to see Bills in person this evening. Post a comment if you're gonna be there; field level third base side!
I'll be wearing shorts and a Dodger t-shirt and flip flops
Getting weepy watching True Blue Stories: 1965 while readying for the game.
/idiotaddict
PIT 6-2 Gnats in 6th
PHI 6-2 Pod Rays in 8th
So the team from Pennsylvania is beating the team from California.
Whoever they are.
Pod Rays lose.
Reed Johnson just said he wanted one of the In Beard We Trust t-shirts.
He can't have mine.
Tuesday marks the debut of my "Win for Vin" shirt.
Sax is in the house and representing! Good crowds. More invasive security checks at gates. Open Canter's. Bad cell service.
Sax I noticed that security has been a wee bit tighter the last two games we went to. Made my 9yo empty his pockets and turn around. Must be profiling little blonde kids with glasses again.
The guy at the beer stand I always go to told me last night that the stadium is on heightened security these days as they were finding that people were trying to bring all kinds of things in. I got yelled at for not emptying my pockets even though I had nothing in them.
They did make me empty my pockets last time but I hadn't shaved in a day so it usually the same as calling for a holy war to security.
Also Paul and I just look shady.
Oh, and: On the sofa, Vinny!
Speakig of I haven't shaved since Monday. I am not making a statement I am having my bathroom redone.
The signo doesn't seem to mind but that is probably because with all the farm work on the weekends lately I smell too much to be around most of the time anyways.
One down for Chadders!!
We will be in August in the ATL? I hope D Lowe and Padilla square off in a who will melt first game.
Hey, Heyward didn't strike out. Weird.
Nice Chad.
I want to go help w farm work some time, Paul. Get my hands dirty. Work up a thirst.
11 pitches
Jay Eye In Tee Ess just lost.
Raffy starts us off!
Vin said T Hanson often melts down in the 2nd. If Bills does tonight, too, this could cause something cataclysmic to happen in the cosmos.
Bison GIDP - boo!
^ That used to be Loney's job.
Anytime dusty. Although as I said the night usually ends with a bottle of whiskey and bottle shooting with the .410. I try to be cultured but when in Rome. I am still a roman. Or something like that.
Damn Kemp!!!
@Paul
You just described my young adulthood in less than a sentence.
LA Times:
"Porn actor suspected of murder jumps off cliff, dies after daylong standoff with police "
Speaking of liquid stored in a bottle...*opens some wine*
Dbags up on Rox 3-0 in 6th.
I'd take Manny hitting a single or double every AB instead of his power, or what's left of it.
LOVE how Vinny pronounces O'Flaherty's name with such conviction.
Two-out madness! Of the preferred variety!
Madness I tell ya!
Sons of Glenn Hubbard readers are going crazy talking about Tommy Hanson's first-inning meltdown happening an inning early.
I am surprised James layed off the first inside slider. That thing is nasty pitch to a lefty.
Damn. But bodes well for the second.
McCann still strikes me as better suited to teach algebra II than be a big leaguer.
Tough zone.
@Sax
Is The Man still hasslin' ya? I feel like playing some F the Police in protest.
Siddown, Gloss!
That was a strike through and through, Glaus! Not an argument.
He's jonesin' for some Balco cream.
Y-U-N-E-L? Because we like it.
Hey, we successfully navigated the innings of peril
JMart up in dis bish!
Single-DP-single. Of course.
Well, that didn't last long.
Joyce flared one over the infield for a single, though. That's hitting for power for him.
We can't start winning until Mary Hart puts on some Dodger Blue.
BILLS!!!!!!
I thought was was going out for a second.
ChadBI!
Orel-
Are you giving Mary Hart grief? MDIL points out that Hart has been to the Yard the last THREE nights in a row, and said to tell yall not to give her any stick. MDIL also noted that last night Hart was wearing a cute little 50s-style letterman's sweater type thing that was appropriately Dodger-colored.
Must be that thing Bills is growing under his bottom lip. Fear the Beard!
I believe MDIL just got all up in my bish.
I think I just saw Sax macking on Mary Hart.
Hello everyone.
Just got in from work. Chadley seems to be hanging in there
So The beard might be heading to the DL and Casey Blake with him!!!
What is up with all these pre-game injuries???
Are they in a fight club? Of course we wouldn't know cause they wouldn't talk about it.
Bison gets a hold of one!
Hey Karen, you got an avatar!
I can't tell whether the strike zone is thimble-size, or the pitchers are just a nit erratic.
Manny slides when he wants to slide!!
Shouldn't we have, like, thirty runs by now?
Hansen you get the middle finger on behalf of all us southpaws.
OH! Not the pinkie toe!!
Left middle finger, I presume.
@Orel
It took me long enough, huh!!
Well, you picked a good one.
Yup Mr. C
He had been trying to run in that shit to all the leftis but he doesn't have the control.
His beard is also well kept.
Damn seven hits a couple of BBs and 2 runs.
What will it take for Dodger Stadium to get fans their beers in shorter than 1.5 innings?
2-0 Dodgers. Jillian said yes to her marriage proposal.
Lefties I mean and his beard is too well kept.
@Josh S 8:04p: define "macking", in the technical sense
Sorry for the absence, lads and lasses. Mrs D came back with skirt steak but not marinated skirt steak,. SO I'm having to make up a quick-fire marinade to break down the beef and then throw right on the grill. It's not the worst challenge in the world to face, but alas it's taking me away from my usual masterful insight posted in this space. Surely you will find a way to adjust.
Going on my second inning in the beer line
I need rations. I think I'm dehydrated.
Macking or mackin'? Huge difference in the street vernacular. From 1993.
Game is still in play but the monitors above theconcession stands have cut over to Geico commercials. Can Frank be that hard up for cash?
*Hollers into sleeve mic* Can we get someone in there ?? We've got a man down!
Still standing in line. Not sure if Sunday's game has started yet
@ Sax
Padilla is already soaked!
Sorry Heyward
My mistake, Sax. I guess you were just asking if she could get you a beer.
Heyward's not going to like coming L.A.-ward.
Bills looks good early.
But Manny's been stinking it up.
MANNY MAKE HIPPITY-HOPS!
Well these low scoring games are better than the 12-10 contests we had in April. But I am a National League guy or as I call it the justice league.
Human League?
Keep feeling fascination!
6th inning, meet Chadley. 102 pitches.
Jamey would be in the all star lineup if he was a Philly.
Does Sax have a beer yet? Should we text the Dodgers hotline?
De Blah.
Garret Anderson would be in the All Star lineup if he was a Philly.
Hanson throws 118 pitches. Nobody trusts their bullpen with us.
Uh oh.
Uh oh.
Is the 7th the new 6th?
Well, this isn't good.
"Chief?"
"McClouth!"
Aw, dammit Chad.
Aw dammit.
Guess we didn't want to set up the DP with Heyward on deck.
sorry everybody, that's my fault
:/
When is the last god damned time we had a throw that was even close to getting someone out at the plate?
[Don't tell me any stats I just want to wallow in this thinking]
Shit-ass fuck waffles.
Tronnie needs to man up here.
Torre really needs to stop running Tron out every other day.
Remember when Tracy would constantly leave the starting pitcher in just a few batters too long.
I'm getting flashbacks.
christ
i never should have tuned in
i'm sorry everybody
Ramon Troncoso sucks.
Er, #DrNealElAttrache
That ball hung up there longer than it took Sax to get a beer.
Everybody enjoy first place for the next hour or so.
That beer was the downfall for me.
The Jonah Hex trailer didn't help any, either.
Epale, everyone!
@Fred's Brim it's my fault, i just tuned in. My dad took us to the ice cream parlor and therefore, i missed Vinny.
My mother would be ashamed of the things I just said.
Even Neeebs' mom flushed, but barely.
Hanson In line for the win. Maybe this will teach us to stick with the gameplan. Hanson was at 80+ pitches through 4IP and he still went seven.
I think Chad Billingsley could have done this.
SAVE US, ELY!!!
The jinx was the usual suspect: Steiner. Said that the bullpen had twenty-someodd straight scoreless innings.
I just tried to fit "fuck" in the middle of the word, "inning" and I almost tore my ACL.
Bullpen doesn't have it tonight. Seven runs in the seventh.
Fun doesn't stop.
I can't believe it's just one out.
Prado, why?
I'm now stress eating oreo cookies
Not a pretty sight
At least Chad can just laugh this off now. If it were close, he could have reason to be pissed.
Poor Chad. He gets the loss in an otherwise stellar outing. Just the victim of Torre's infamous hook and Steiner's Steiner-isms.
Finally, a double play.
Merlin's pants.
Inning over. Andre is in pain.
If you think about it, Bills did everything good on this game.
Raffy single! And the at-least-six-run comeback begins!
Lead off single! way to go!
SHOW 'EM NO MERCY!!!
That's funny, Karen.
They will keep throwing that garbage Matt if you keep swinging.
High-schoolers getting TJ surgery? Sign o' the times.
This is a little late but, this umpires strikezone fuckin blows.
Kemp & Ethier did not get the rousing comeback memo.
I don't know what to say to you Andre. Blame Chuck.
Orel, I've seen kids in pony league have to have TJ surgery.
Get a run Manny. MSB steps.
Jon Heyman responded to MLASF's tweet!
strike?
Nic, what age is Pony League?
Soooooooo....
Ely tomorrow!
The particular kid I saw was 14. It has alot to do with kids playing all year since travelball leagues started becoming popular.
That and improper throwing mechanics.
I wonder how many little leaguers will get surgery once everybody tries to mimic Lincecum's delivery.
This team's clutchness is also stuck in line for beer.
IT'S THE HAEBINGER OF DOOM! THIS GAME IS A LOSS!!!
It's not over 'till it's over.
DB had TJ surgery. The stress of too many 40s on the UCL.
I can't believe neither Kemp or Ethier couldn't reach that ball.
Anyway, people shouldn't boo them. It's not very helpful, given the score, IMHO.
WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF?
@Paul
You are so close to home w that 40oz comment. *points to nose*
Even Mary Hart has forsaken us!
@Karina
I agree re booing, and I've posted here several times re booing your own players.
Aside from the booing, that play was pathetic. And Kemp didn't even act like he gave a shite. Little League kind of stuff.
@DB: Why the face?
T-Slick's looking pretty good right now.
I think Haeger just pulled his el pollo loco!!! Back to the DL.
Thanks, Dre!
So, there are a king, a son and an admiral coming up.
@Dusty
yeah but you are an inspirational comeback story.
Jeff Kent is smirking somewhere. Jeff Kent is still an asshole anywhere.
We're already back at home. What an epic fail. Sigh.
@Paul
Im like Josh Hamilton, but without the jesus crap and the sobriety.
@Mr LASF i loved how you stood for your point of view.
@Dusty - Or the brief relapse at a bar in Arizona.
...Right?
Well. I am close to flipping the iPod on and winding down with a stiff drink.
I forgot to ask, Dusty what kind of vino tonight??
@Dusty - Yes. Yes he is.
@Karina - Thank you.
@Paul
Having some (sheepishly) Peachy Canyon Zin that Mrs D snagged while hurriedly shopping for dinner. Have to say it's not god awful. It's fairly bold and holds up well to the slab of skirt steak I just put in a pipe and smoked.
Please tell me you got that beer, Sax.
Seriously, the strikezone blows.
I once waited in a beer line so long that sales were cut off. And I started an inning and a half early. Dusty had to be led out by a far more serene Mrs Dusty.
FOX years were dark times.
What did I miss on Twitter? ( still think a midget stripper somewhere should sue for naming rights.)
Lot of Braves fans.
Nothing wrong with that Zin in a pinch. Every tried Klinker Brick Zin from Lodi? Good stuff for abou 16 bucks a bottle. They have an old vine zin called Old Ghost for more money. that is sick!! Great label too. I always have one on Halloween night.
Nice hit Blake.
Runners at the corners, no outs!
GA new plan: strike three and run!
@Paul
I haven't tried that one but I have had plenty of others from Lodi. I have a good friend who was raised there and so have quaffed my way through the area thanks to him.
anderson you lucky
When referring to GA either on base or trying to leg out a third strike passed ball, one must refer to him as a "runner".
No play!
Put Saito in!
well well well, we finally have something going here.
Unfortunately, not scoring more runs in the first few innings is biting us in the butt
Dusty
Apparently talking wine is working.
So yeah Duckhorn is good stuff. Nice pairing!!
Don't do it Kemp.
I like what the good people at Duckhorn do. Even their flagship merlot is passable for that vile varietal.
Oh well. ETHIER is up
why do you consider Merlot vile?
crap.
WHY HAS NO CLUTCHNESS RETURNED YET?
