If you want to come early for one of the Yankees games, you have to come early to six other games as well.

Don't mix up this post title with the content of the one adjacent (previous) to it.

Maybe it's the constant publicity barrage about it, or the fact that we're getting owned by the AL, but I have absolutely no hype for this series

I totally agree, Mr F. And I actually have a ticket for one of the games. Sad. A win tonight should help, but does not exactly indicate momentum.

I still like our chances. This team has been owned by teams they should have little to no trouble with (Pirates Mets, to some extent Angels), but has owned teams they should struggle against (Cardinals). I'm not going to make any predictions, I just have a good feeling.

where is autograph alley?

@ Sergio - behind centerfield - it is free.

I'm surprised they haven't increased parking fees for this series. Get everyone all hyped up, then charge $25 for parking.

Autograph Alley for the Saturday Yankees game and all they could scrounge up was Matt Luke??

Really???

Matt F'n Luke.

Times must be a tough.

Josh S. said...

They keep Matt Luke in a box behind center field.

wait, so the alley is where you can score autographs from that one person they announce and not necessarily anyone else?

@Neeebs

I was thinking the same thing. And then I started thinking about the lack of "big names" throughout this season in terms of throwing out first pitches, appearing in autograph alley, etc. (And some great guys have been at autograph alley this year - props to them and I was glad they were there; not picking on them). Overall, other than the usual suspects, there have been very few former Blue hauled out. I'm beginning to wonder if the McCourts may have driven some folks away...

I am going to the game tomorrow.

I am down on these guys I haven't planned anything.

I think I might take some crack and drive back that night.

Sounds like I have a plan.

On the other hand (and I'm not saying your wrong, DB), a lot of big-name former Dodgers are still active in baseball with other teams: Scioscia, Lopes, your namesake, etc.

I don't know why they don't trot Fernando out there instead of Matt Luke this weekend, since he's always there. Maybe they think crowd control for a free Fernando signing might be a pain.

So does GA get another start? I am dying with anticipation.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

It seems like every other day Ken Landreaux is in Autograph Alley, and the days he is not there, it's Lee Lacy.

Paul said...

I'm gonna get out now. I'm Off Base and I was just thrown out. I'm not fundamentally known but I'm known to screw up before I touch home.

They re-set the counters on the online All-Star voting. If you've already voted 25 times, you can vote another 25 times.

Mr. C-
That's quite a look you've got going on. We should be friends!

@MB

Thanks! I'm going with the angry baboon until things improve.

MeanieBreanie said...

Mr.C - hopefully it won't stay that way for long.

@MB

Agreed. If not, I'll have to seek professional help for my monkey rage.

That exactly reinforces my point, Josh. The fact that there are former Dodger guys out there who are not with the club could mean one or both of a) FOX didn't want them b) they don't want the McCourts.

One of the the things that has made the Lakers successful, I feel, is that they have kept the "family" together. We have or have had Rambis, B Shaw, #33, Magic, Kupchak, etc. and are bound to have DFish around after he retires. Dodgers certainly have some formers in their ranks, but again, the fact that there is a rich vein of former Dodger talent to draw from for autograph alley, for first pitches, for promotions, for various positions in the team, could mean something. Not meaning to be critical, but just saying I'm starting to smell something. On 70s night, I expected to have 5 players from the 70s on the field pre-game. Nope.
