But the challenge was much greater than anything Kobayashi or reigning hot dog champ Joey Chestnut ever accomplished. EAT ONE DOUBLE DOWN. JUST ONE.
Not one Son would do it. Sax claimed something about family obligations. Orel muttered about a childhood trauma at KFC featuring a Little Bucket Parfait. And Pedro Guerrero screamed out "how many times is this site going to kill me?"
Thus, I will be walking down this road alone. I'm off to my local KFC, and will post about my trials and tribulations right here. Stay tuned.

Few things about KFC...
I could smell it a half block away.
The sandwich is FIVE BUCKS. Alone. No meal deal. FIVE BUCKS! I guess they charger per calorie
I opened the box, did not touch the sandwich, put my hand back on the steering wheel and already covered the wheel in grease.
On way home, saw a man literally drive down the wrong way of a two way street. Who's living life more on the edge? Them or me.
First bite.
Quite moist. But not as fried as one would guess.
So very moist.
Hands covered in some kind of liquid.
Second bite.
Really got a sense of the bacon. Or bacon flavored gelatinous form.
Nice and chickeny overall.
Pulse / blood pressure have yet to spike
Dog has joined me in the office. Looking at me with such hopes for one bite. Now lying down in defeat.
Is that pepper I tasted?
Looked at the inside of the sandwich. Nowhere near as shocking as the one time I looked inside a McRib (at which point I NEVER ordered one again)
Both son and dog trying to get my sandwich. Hands greasier. Bacon chewier.
Chewed through paper on last bite. Did not notice until afterwards. Spicyness coming out more.
Sweating
Baby and dog both begging for some. Can't do that to them. Love them too much. Baby responds by pulling out my velvet underground CDs
So much sweat
You should have taken your blood pressure before and after.
Mission accomplished. Sandwich done. Reward dog with some of the leftover cheese.
A really messy eat. They lied: the paper holder did nuthin'. Hands will need a Palmolive Dip for an hour.
Pretty decent sandwich. Still prefer the KFC BBQ sandwich, but if you want to get to the grave a little faster, then try the Double Down.
@DB - If I did that, I never would have even eaten the sandwich in the first place :-)
I too was surprised by the size and price of it. I liked it, but it was too much food. And just to be fair to the Double Down, it has fewer calories than the Big Mac
The low number of calories is misleading. The amount of fat and sodium and what not per calorie is the issue. ie, for all the fat you're consuming, it's giving you that much energy.
