Welcome Back to the Jungle?

The Dodgers have signed Eric Gagne to a minor-league deal. From "Dodgers Reach Agreement With Eric Gagne" at MLBTR:

Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports says (via Twitter) that Gagne will make $500,000 if he makes the big league team, with another $500,000 in incentives based on games and games finished.

The Rockies offered the 34-year-old Gagne a minor league deal as well, however he apparently preferred the familiarity of the Dodgers' organization.

IN YOUR FACE, ROCKIES! Of course, Gagne will never be the Gagne of old, but at the very least it would make for some good nostalgia should he make it back to Dodger Stadium. I believe he was booed last time he visited, as a Brewer, so Dodger fans could also right that wrong. And should his uniform read GAGNE or GAGNÉ?

If this is about nostalgia I hope they kept his old, sweat crusted hat from his last run. I'm not sure he'll break a sweat before his arm falls off this spring so creating the look a second time seems unlikely.

All kidding aside, I do kind of hope he gets to throw an inning or two while wearing a white jersey at Dodger Stadium. Those were pretty good times.

My dream scenario would involve the Giants resigning Bonds for that game so we could relive that match-up one last time. Of course it would be in super slow motion, but still...

Now if they can only sign back Broxton's balls.

I'm not opposed at all if he has something to contribute. Apparently he has been working out hard trying to get himself ready. I like the process of minor league contract w invitation to camp. If he can't be effective, he won't make the squad, and if he can, great for us.

For the record, the last time he was in the stadium, he was a spectator who was welcomed and shown on jumbotron to huge applause.

Hooray! We really needed a closer who could shut down the opposition...

in 2005.

Right now, we're set.

Yeah cause Broxton has been NAILS closing out important games in the post-season.

Sorry...sorry...sorry...kidding.

It's mostly the Game 4s Broxton's having trouble with. Everything else is as cool as the other side of the pillow.

Now all the Dodgers need to do is sign Eric Gagne's personal physician Paul LoDuca.

Lo Duca signed with the Rox earlier in the year. Jim Tracy's sad he could not reunite the old battery.

I think the All You Can Eat Pavilion is hiring... or at least selling naming rights.

I am now 100% convinced that Ned and Frank are time-displaced, ala "Lost", and think it's 2002.

We're going to have to move the island.

Unfortunately, I never saw Gagne pitch in his glory years. The one time I did see him was when he converted what was (I believe) his final save in Dodger blue. It was a historic moment, as he and Martin made the first all-Canadian battery in MLB history!

Cool memory, Casey.

@Casey

The cool thing was that with both Gagne and Martin speaking French, they didn't have to use any signals. Martin would just yell out to the mound in French to tell Gagne what pitch to throw. The two of them speaking in French lead to some nice confusion tactics.

Unfortunately, French speaking between those two was outlawed during the Bush administration at the height of anti-Gallic sentiment. Gagne forced by MLB to throw "Freedom Strikes".

Is someone going to make "Game Held...Maybe" t-shirts?
