Post-Game 100 Thread: Three In A Row

CARDINALS 10, DODGERS NIL

Okay, so there you have it. It took 100 games, but the Dodgers finally lost three in a row, which will certainly drop them in the vaunted Power Rankings despite still having the best record in the majors and a eight-game lead over the second-place Rockies, the largest division lead in the majors. Happy now, national media? Rejoicing, Bill Plaschke? Freaked out, Dodger fans?

Not I, says the Sax. Slumps are bound to happen, and this twenty-game stretch was always going to be a grind. Let's just hope that today's pathetic offensive output and sixth-inning meltdown by Chad Billingsley doesn't lead Ned Colletti to any rash decisions...three days before the trade deadline.

I'm not freaked, but I am trying to figure it all out. I have two theories:

-All the "Sure they're good, but they're not good enough to win in the postseason" talk is getting to them.

or...

-The BobbleSlam was cursed.

Im pretty sure the roster wont get DePodesta'd.

Bills was light out for the first five innings tonight but then completely fell apart in the 6th. This is becoming a trend and that is what worries me. Granted he got zero run support tonight. Still we cant have our "Ace" completely falling apart on a consistent basis.

The worst part is that this is a four game series, ugh.

It could just as easily have been the pressure. It's tough to pitch knowing you can't make a mistake because the offense can't back you up.

Thats the playoffs, you have to match zero's. I just hope all this crap gets worked through in the coming months.

Robothal is reporting that the Dodgers have enough prospects to acquire both Lee and Sherrill without giving up Bills and Kershaw. It would however strip the club of a lot of depth.

Bills has fallen apart when he has gotten run support also. He just doesn't have confidence in himself.

yeah and Plaschke kicking Bills ass every day in the LAT doesn't help his confidence any.

Yeah, it sucks when all of your best prospects are already playing on the major roster. A deal of that magnitude would totally wipe out our farm system.

"A deal of that magnitude would totally wipe out our farm system."

*imagines this sentence read in Admiral Ackbar's voice*

*laughs hysterically*

Nic, I don't think a roster made of the core of prospects that management has refused to trade which has now built an incredible record and could be the favorite to make the World Series "sucks".

But that's just me.

Giants win, now even with Rox at 8 games back.

I was merely stating that our organization depth is already shallow because of the fact that we have so many homegrown players on the main roster. Since almost the entire roster has been called up fairly recently we dont have that much MLB ready talent in the farm system. I never said the team sucked. I was just saying we are in a disadvantage when it comes to making trades.

I was just taking what you said and spinning it to my favor. In politics, it's called "telling the truth". I know that the farm system is not as deep as it could be, but when you have so many of the kids already on the roster, you can afford to trade away prospects.

NicJ said...

Unfortunately our farm system is not at Red Sox status yet and we cant just trade away one AA prospect for a player off a major league roster that could make an impact.

stupid red sox.

NicJ said...

Maybe they will give us Dice-K since we usually get the red sox sloppy seconds, and vice versa.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I blame Chin-Lung Hu. He's lost all trade value.

who the hell voted for Wade on the poll?

Greg Bishop said...

It'll be the "Comeback Kids" on a season-long scale. That's my prediction.
