Randy Wolf (4-4, 3.51) vs. Homer Bailey (1-1, 6.43).
COMMENTS: So Randy Wolf has gotta be sitting there in the dugout last night, thinking: I've started 20 games, leading the National League in games started, and I only have eight decisions? And only one win since the beginning of June? And Jason Schmidt goes out there and gives up three runs in the first inning of play, and the Dodgers come back to give him a win for five short innings of service? What do I need to do to get a win? Give a Wolf a break, man!
The Dodger bats have their work cut out for them tonight, facing Homer Bailey for the first time. And you know how well that usually goes for the boys in blue. Don't expect to see many shots of ol' Dusty Baker chomping on toothpicks in the dugout. Unless he freaks out listening to Lorenzo Lamas sing the national anthem, that is.

Just two more hours.
Cool pic Karina!
almost a homer!!
Wolf Power!
Wolf RBI double!
May the force be with Master Ran-Dee tonight.
what the hell was kemp doing there
@Orel,Nic j and fanerman, thanks, you all are so sweet .
RAFFY-POWER!
raffy had to show up wolf on that one.
Save 'em for tomorrow, boys! 12-1 Dodgers!
Um, careful Vin.
Furcal HR!
Les estan cayendo a palos...
"Randy will never shave before a start, and he will never have his pants around his ankles." —Vin
Orel, HAHAHAHAHA
vin has more innuendos than a queen concert tonight.
Vin's working blue!
Most broadcasters would give us their opinion on Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame. Not Vin.
its amazing that nobody just tries to mimic Vin. its really a shame.
Not true, Nic. What about Gabbo?
gabbo's a stiff.
X-RAYS NEGATIVE, Manny day-to-day
PHEW
whew, xrays negative.
Love Gabbo Thoughts, by the way.
Hooray for x-rays!
He can do the hully-gully in addition to Vin Scully.
you are like a simpsons encyclopedia, how do you remember that stuff.
Drederick Tatum?
Trojans in da house! i saw a tanned guy with grey hair signing autographs. Is he the coach?
Trojans is the USC football team?
It is an extremely rare gift that is only known by me and three other employees at this pet store
pretty good GBA.
Got to hear Nancy Bea!
the catcher was a little ahead of himself there
Good news for Manny.
You are correct, Karina. That's probably Pete Carroll, Karina.
By the way, official Dodgers photographer Jon SooHoo is Carroll's official photographer as well.
Karina. Just in case I didn't use your name enough.
His website is really pimped. And I never thought I'd use the word "pimped" to describe something about Pete Carroll.
That's the guy i saw, Orel. Reading his bio and he seems to be the best, why isn't he coaching at the NFL? i mean, he's like a rock star.
He previously coached in the NFL, spending a year with the Jets and a year with the Patriots. Based on that, I think you can gather why he left the bigs.
What i don't explain how i knew the Trojans are from USC. Too much sorts section at the LA Times? but i only read Dodgers baseball...and some of the Angels, because of Abreu and Rivera.
O-Dog and Manny can start a club with those with fragile left hands.
Osmosis, Karina!
Since Los Angeles doesn't have an NFL team, the Trojans are football royalty here.
he makes more money at USC, and he owns pretty much owns LA.
@MLASF, Karina
USC might as well be the NFL as far LA is concerned.
Pete is long on charisma and maybe a bit short on innovation, so NCAA is right up his alley.
Aren't the Patriots a very good team, are they?weren't they the team that won all their games and lost the Super Bowl?
or are they like the Red Sox?
The Jets don't ring a bell....maybe the guy is excellent at developing young players, given college sports are the minors.
LA may have one in two years, if the city of walnut would stop being bastards.
Time to take Wolf out. No sense if taxing his arm.
"in"
A tip o' the cap!
that awesome.
I want that damn stadium.
@Nic j, you can tell he owns the place, that's why he catched my attention.
Announcer at the Reds broadcast helped with "the Trojans are in da house" and there's one guy signing autographs.
they guy who is backing the whole thing said that they just have to pay off walnut and they can break ground. Seems pretty confident about getting a team to move to LA to play in the rose bowl or Colli for the 2010 season.
Karina,
The patriots got good after he left. The Jets were only good once is the '60's.
If football is so huge, why LA doesn't have its own team?
What about the Coliseum?
the colli is way too run down and the parking there is horrible.
http://tinyurl.com/nw8rp6
I even had my picture taken with him, though for anonimity's sake I can't share it.
How much time do you have, Karina?
Orel, i don't sleep so i've got all the time.I think it's weird, there are lots of football teams in small cities in Florida, why not LA?
That's a question so many of us have been trying to answer for so long.
"f football is so huge, why LA doesn't have its own team?
What about the Coliseum?"
Loooooooooooooooooooong story.
From what you all say, i want Los Angeles to have its own team. You all sound disappointed, i can tell.
ive pretty much grown up without a rooting interest in any football team.
I usually root for the team that is playing against the raiders.
Wow, 12-2. We may actually win this game.
Arthur Rhodes, former Oriole!
I've adopted the Saints because of Reggie Bush, and because it's technically an LA team.
Ha, Vin calling Weathers and Rhodes the Reds' "youth movement."
Boy, you miss a lot when you mow your lawn at night
haha, nice one MLSF
It sure takes a lot longer, too.
I'm with Nic, Raiders suck.
Los Angeles has two soccer teams, Galaxy and Chivas, right?
From what i understand, american people are not very enthusiastic about professional soccer or the city has two teams due to the large latin population in the LA area?
"Boy, you miss a lot when you mow your lawn at night"
Like your neighbors yelling at you?
"Boy, you miss a lot when you mow your lawn at night"
Im hoping that includes all the sprinkler heads.
Maybe I should run around town and find more "this is my town" billboards.
Boy, you picked the right time to bring up soccer. "I just wanted him to shake me hand"
@Karina "From what i understand, american people are not very enthusiastic about professional soccer or the city has two teams due to the large latin population in the LA area?"
Another long story.
Karina, the MLS is a joke. Thats why nobody cares about it.
Dudes shouldn't wear earrings.
Thanks to the Beckham fiasco, I've learned a lot about the MLS.
BTW, the LA Riot Squad is probably the coolest name for a group of fans that i have ever heard.
They were saying "Boo-eckham"
Karina, I've never been to a MLS game but I have been to a Premiership game. *unbelievable*! I havent been to anything like it. Wow.
The Grant Wahl excerpt of "the beckham experiment" in sports illustrated was pretty compelling stuff.
Nic j, no offense but it's a weird, slow and boring league and i'm an italian soccer fan (some people accuse italian soccer of those traits, clearly they don't understand the beauty of defense, but that's another topic)
NFL in LA abridged summary.
1. The Raiders are owned by a jerk.
2. The Rams were owned by a jerk.
3. Our stadia are old.
4. The NFL likes to use moving to LA as a threat to make other citys to build new facilities.
5. Politics.
Does that about cover the high points?
That was Rhodes's 4000th AB.
Thats what i was saying Karina, the caliber of talent is very low. Its like single A baseball.
Wow, quick inning for Rhodes.
As a-ha would say, "stay on, these rhodes."
Steve, the fact you went to a Premiership game just gave you like one million cool points in my book.
The Premier League is rock 'n roll, fast, intense, fun!
Correction: The Raiders are owned by Skelator.
has anyone seen the plans for the new stadium. Its crazy.
Thanks Mr. Customer. Pretty good summary.
By the way, is stadia the plural for stadium?
Vargas gave up a HR.
The first run Vargas has given up.
Don't forget politics.
Karina, how would you rank the (playing) talent in the euro leagues? Italy vx France vs england vs Spain?
Reds hit a HR, so here's their 10-run comeback...a la the a's from earlier this wk?
300?
300!
The closest thing LA has to the NFL is the FOX Pregame Show.
Stadia is nerd-plural for stadium. "Stadiums" is more common.
whew, we pulled it out.
Post-Game Thread is up!
Can't believe it's only 10p. That seemed longer.
Sax, i started a loooong answer, so i guess it's better like this:
Italy>France
England>Spain
