SI.com Reports Manny Ramirez Traded to Dodgers, Andy LaRoche to Pirates

Manny traded to Dodgers, Bay headed to Boston (SI.com)

Jason Bay headed to Boston as part of the deal. No word yet on who the Dodgers are giving up.

UPDATE:

All baseball-related servers are sluggish!

UPDATE:

It's LaRoche. From Robothal:

Pirates outfielder Jason Bay is headed to the Red Sox. The Pirates will receive Andy LaRoche and right-hander Bryan Morris from the Dodgers and outfielder Brandon Moss and releiver Craig Hansen from the Red Sox.

The Red Sox will pay all of the approximately $7 million remaining on Ramirez's contract.

The Pirates have cornered the market on LaRoches!

If this is true, I guarantee every column about the trade will say something about how Manny will fit in perfectly with the "laid back southern California lifestyle" or some such nonsense.

Waiting to find out who the Dodgers gave up is nauseating.

Does this fit into the BW Masterplan, Erin?

Today is certainly a day I wish my blog were up and running. It's motivation to get things going again. A blockbuster trade involving both my teams? That's the stuff I'm supposed to be writing about!

I know we all like LaRoche, but this has to be considered a pretty good deal for the Dodgers, right? Manny's bat will be great, even if it's only for a few months, and apparently it didn't cost the Dodgers Matt Kemp (though I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop on that one).

It does mean the Dodgers' outfield will be extra crowded. So what happens now that we have Ramirez, Pierre, Jones, Kemp and Ethier? I don't know about you, but an outfield of Ramirez, Kemp and Ethier sounds pretty sweet to me. You sacrifice some on defense with Ramirez, but I think he makes up for it at the plate.

Can Pierre's noodle arm throw from short to first?

Andy will get to play with his brother now, right? Isn't Adam a Pirate?

Ramirez, Kemp, and Ethier in the outfield sounds great to me! How about Pierre at second base on Kent's days off? Shorter throw for the water pistol.
