Hiroki Kuroda (5-6, 3.39) vs. Ricky Nolasco (10-4, 3.74).
COMMENTS: Low-scoring game alert! Low-scoring game alert! The Dodgers' near-perfect Kuroda goes against the Marlins' winningest pitcher Nolasco in what should be a pitchers' duel. Don't expect much offense. Do expect a quick game. Don't expect the Dodgers to take sole possession of first place before the All-Star Break, as the Diamondbacks beat the Phillies today. Do expect us to place too much hope that Don Mattingly's return after the break will ignite the Dodger bats. Don't expect any trade will make the Dodgers significantly better. Do expect lots of bitching and whining when the Diamondbacks make a trade that makes the Dodger front office look bad.

That's right, Nomar batting leadoff. Jones batting ahead of Loney and Kemp. Could we get no-hit again?
Interesting. I'm worried Garciaparra gets injured trying to get on base, unless the team has worked a similar strategy to the one the college sotfball girls did a while ago (remember?).
This "Jones before Loney and Kemp" has written "rally killer" all over it. How someone with an average inferior to Mendoza bats fifth (i don't want to bring on his OBP and BABIP because we all could get depressed) is beyond my understanding.
On the bright side of things (as always), we can't complain Torre isn't keeping us surprised.
Kuroda giving Ramirez a well deserved K.
Cantu singled and stole second base. Willingham singled and Cantu scored.
Dodgers 0-Marlins 1
Garciaparra with the single.
Ethier singled. Garciaparra at 2nd.
Martin walks. Rancho Ardiendo, no outs!
Kent grounded out. Garciaparra scores. Ethier at 3rd. Son Martin at 2nd. Jones at the plate with 2 strikes (2 pitches)
Dodgers 1-Marlins 1
Surprise. Jones with a K!. Go King James!
King James grounded out. Rancho Ardiendo with no outs and they only scored one run.
Ramirez is being replaced by Amezaga. What happened?
Kemp HR! (i hope McCourt doesn't trade him, worried about his declarations at the LA Times). He doesn't want to go, most of us don't want him to go,
Dodgers 2-Florida 1
Kemp Ks a lot, but his HRs are indeed sweeeeeeet
Looks like Kuroda's settled down. How about some insurance, guys?
Karina, so a good third date? This sounds serious...you guys picking out china patterns yet?
What is this, three dates in a week?
Always with the two-out singles!
A little Huey Lewis & the News between innings!
Hi folks. What's going on with Huey?
Dodger Stadium was playing "Power of Love" between innings.
Yep, 3 dates within a week. Nah, no china patterns, between my reluctance to give my heart to someone and his penchant for XBOX with pals, pizza and beer, it would take a while (and many many dates)to reach some kind of relationship.
For now, it's only getting to know each other.
Xbox, pizza and beer? I think I'm in love!
Karina, what is this I hear about your recent dating activity? Should I be jealous?
Where did he take you (sorry if this has already been covered in previous GT's)?
Orel are you at the game?
No, just heard the music in the background on TV.
Yes, you should be jealous.
Cantu ties it up.
Have we already used up all the Cantu puns?
Actually, I can think of a few more. Cantu?
What's Jorge's favorite fruit? Cantulope?
Ok, Eric, we have been to a very cool tea house, my favorite bar (where you get to listen to reggae, hip-hop, alternative 80's and 90's music and some rock en espanol), hunting for gifts for his godson, yogurt ice cream, watching my friends' band performance and looking for a place to watch the Dodgers game.
However, i promise my life there's no any reason to be jealous about. He's been teasing me for "being hipster and sophisticated", which i really deny :(.
I already told Orel, the Sons were already first, so i guess he should be jealous of all of you, how about that?
"The term 'Vulcan' came from Star Trek." Thank you, Vin.
Ok Karina, my jealousy has been mitigated. But 'Hipster and sophisticated'...you don't agree with that assessment?
All on three dates???
There's got to be a Nolasco pun somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.
I Nolasco, you no-tell-o.
That's bad Orel, but better than anything I can think of.
Ok Karina & Orel, I must bid you farewell. I have to hit the sack. Good luck Dodgers!
Well that was a cheapie RBI. 3-2 Marlins.
Night, EK!
Night, Eric.
No, i'm not a hipster, they all are the same at the end. I march to the beat of my own drummer.
Sophisticated, nope. I might be well-mannered, because of my mom's fixation to make me a "lady". To me sophisticated sound a little bit as snobbish and i don't like snobbery either (which, by the way, most hipsters are)
But they will pull a couple of runs ahead. You'll see.
Dodgers 2-Marlins 4
Marlin homer boy next. Get him, Beimel.
Andruw makes a sliding catch to limit the damage to one run. At least he's still useful in the field.
It's the least he could do. He struck out with bases loaded on the first inning.
Dodgers did nothing on the 7th. Next inning, there's the top of the lineup.
Unfortunately, the Rays have lost six straight.
Broxton touching 98.
Meanwhile, the Mets have won eight straight. Was firing Willie Randolph the right thing to do?
and the Mets have won 8 straight.
Things are getting interesting on the MLB, however i think most people would love the Rays getting into the playoffs, even the World Series.
Ethier homers during the flash flood alert!
Pinto again...i don't have the numbers but i guess Dodgers don't do much against him.
I'm soooooooo glad to eat my words!
Martin tagged it too but right at the SS.
Ethier ties it! Hello, Pinto!
Don't worry about a thing...cause Andruw Jones is gonna strike out now....
Jones has struck out FOUR times tonight. Please tell me they are booing him.
Saito K's Ross!
Yes, Andruw is getting $18 million worth of boos.
2 out, 2-2 count...and Saito goes out with an unindentified injury.
Guess who's coming in? Falkenborg.
No, no, please no.
Sorry, it's true.
Helms grounded out. Prayers were heard.
King James at the plate now.
"Crowd looking at [Loney's pop-up] with their hearts, not their eyes."
It's fireworks night tonight. So let's see some!
King James with the fly out at the first pitch.
Did Vin say that? he's the best.
Andy LaRoche replacing Falkenborg. Who's in the bullpen?
DeWitt walks! LaRoche with an infield single! Nomar up!
Bullpen? Why would we need them?
Not this time. Let's find out who was in the bullpen.
But they'll win this game anyway.
Troncoso.
Any word on why they took out Saito with injury? That worries me.
I could be watching, but instead I'm upstairs listening to Charley and Steve Lyons (filling in for Rick pretty well, I might add).
Here comes Troncoso for the 10th.
No word on Saito's injury yet.
Injured elbow. This is very depressing.
Bottom 10! Let's go!
Vin says right elbow tightness for Saito.
Ethier first pitch swinging, flies out to left.
Damn, Russell lines it right to third!
It's not son Martin's night!
Willingham leads off the 11th with a double. Bad news.
Another double. This game is about over.
Not yet. It'd be turn for Bison and King James next, after Jones strikes out.
5-3 Marlins.
Andruw Jones K's for the fifth time—tying a Dodger record—but the ball gets away from the catcher and the throw to first pulls the first baseman off the bag. Loney is the tying run!
Jones struck out, but reaches first base on throwing error. We gotta take it.
Who's the other Dodger with 5 K's in a game?
At least Loney didn't hit into a DP. One out, man on second.
Bill Russell, Darryl Strawberry
Kemp K's. Torre should have Jones steal third.
The gut won't allow him to run fast enough (sorry for being so hard on him)
That took longer than usual, and was more frustrating than usual. Thanks for hanging, good night!
Night, Orel
(fashion police pic will be gone, charm wore out)
