Game 84 Thread: July 2 @ Astros, 5p

Hiroki Kuroda (3-6, 4.04) vs. Runelvys Hernandez (0-1, 5.40).

COMMENTS: Welcome Back, Kuroda! Little bit of 70's humor for you there. If yesterday's frittered-away six-run lead wasn't enough to confound you, then how about the gigantic question mark that is the return of Hiroki Kuroda? Will we see complete-game Hiroki or shelled-in-three-innings Hiroki? Shirimasen! Little bit of Japanese humor for you there.

Meanwhile, the Astros' Hernandez is equally unpredictable, but only because this is his second start of the season. The only certainty in today's game is that Lance Berkman is a beast and should be avoided at all costs. And we miss Juan Pierre! Little bit of Dodgers humor for you there.

Epale, mofos! Dodgers with single runs in the 1st, 3rd & 4th. 3-0 Dodgers.

Let's hear it for Maza, who squeezed in DeWitt!

And Steve Lyons calls Andre Ethier's solo HR! 4-0 Dodgers!

Kuroda's crusing—54 pitches in the 5th.

And he promptly gives up a single.

Orel said...

Karina, you don't want to know.

1st & 2nd w/1 out for the Astros.

Orel. i just watched you on the ESPN booth commenting the Rays-Sox game. By the way, Boston leads 6 to 1.

SWEEEEET pickoff at second! Kuroda to Maza, who snuck over and made a nice last-second adjustment for the tag!

Orel said...

How was I?

Orel said...

Kuroda escapes by the hair of his chinny chin chin! 4-0 Dodgers!

It looks like someone told Maza about the sweet words of Manny Mota...

Dave Borkowski in for the Astros. Bork bork bork!

Orel said...

Strange—Tejada ran too far into the OF for the catch and tried to barehand it at the last minute.

Damon said...

Wow Kent has some range.

Hiroki san with 71pitches through 6

From the Rosenthal colum at Fox:

Make no mistake: The Dodgers are deep enough in young talent to obtain someone like Sabathia or Rockies left fielder Matt Holliday, plus any smaller pieces they desire. Rival clubs, however, remain skeptical that the Dodgers will make a major move. The team has been extremely protective of its young players, more talk than action.

...

Say this for the D-backs and Dodgers: They've been so maddening to watch, they've essentially liberated their respective general managers, giving them every reason to be creative.

One of these teams is almost certain to win the division. Really. Seriously. We promise.

karina said...

I wish they continue their police not to trade the youngsters. I guess many teams would love to trade for any Dodger youngster, because unlike most prospects, they have played at the MLB level.

karina said...

Is there something wrong with King James?

Orel said...

Why?

Cory Wade gives up a solo shot to Lee. 4-1 Dodgers...save situation now.

Getting Sabathia or Holliday would cost at least Kemp. I'm not down with that.

DODGERS WIN! DODGERS WIN!

D'backs 2, Brewers 0, top 4.

A well-played game: good pitching, good defense, good hitting, even a little power.

karina said...

Agree, besides we don't know how Holliday would play when he doesn't play half of the season at Coors Field.
Stick to the youth!

Great point, Karina!

The Rays scored six in the 7th against the Red Sox! 7-5 Rays.

karina said...

Mantra:

1.5,1.5,1,5!

Let's go blue!. Great game, indeed.

karina said...

It'd be wonderful and inspiring if the Rays could go into the World Series.

Orel said...

I would love that! If not against the Dodgers, then against the Cubs.

Orel said...

Still 2-0 D'backs, top 6.

Orel said...

2-1 now!

Orel said...

All tied up in AZ!

Orel said...

Brewers 3-2!

Orel said...

Aargh! AZ ties it up on an Upton homer.

Orel said...

Milwaukee takes the lead in the top of the 9th!

Orel said...

It's all over in AZ! Brewers win another squeaker!

1.5! 1.5! 1.5!
