It was inspiring watching Brad Penny, being asked incredibly stupid post-game questions in the locker room, keep from striking the insipid reporter in the mouth. If I wasn't so distracted by the camouflage Hurley hat, I would have actually felt badly for Penny.
Watching Jim Tracy on the post-game interviews, I really feel bad for the guy. He may not be a great coach but he seems like a really good guy. He offered no excuses for the loss--in fact, he even said that the runs the Pirates got tonight weren't all that deserved either--and praised players like Snell who did a great job tonight. Tracy doesn't have the horses on the Pirates and he's likely going to get canned as a result. I'm not saying we should have kept him as our manager--but shoot, he seems like a nice guy. I hope he can get a less frustrating role, someplace.
Okay, and whatever kindness I felt in my heart after watching the sadness in Tracy's eyes, just dissipated in a flash after watching a segment where Steve Lyons tries to play catcher while Russell Martin throws balls in the dirt in front of Lyons. This is embarrassing for Lyons, Martin, and even me for watching this. I'm half expecting Fred McGriff to pop out of the bushes and tell us about the back-to-back-to-back AAU championships that his tapes will help you achieve. I'm going to bed.

I was out in the Right Field Monument To The Large Dodger Fan last night, so got to see Martin's slam with an overfed, family-filled version of the "energetic" folks that usually inhabit the pavilions. There were man crushes flying around all willy-nilly out there. Great night!
Though I understand your sympathy for Tracy, it was really, really nice watching him flail about helplessly with *someone* *else's* pitching staff in the 10th for once.
Did you get your money's worth, foodwise?
Yeah - I've never tried eating that many Dodger Dogs before. That pavillion's certainly doing it's job: after just one visit, already I look a little more like Olmedo Saenz. Mmmmm, extra nachos....
...I should note, though: if the ticket hadn't been free for me (thanks, employer!), I'm not sure I would have actually eaten the difference in ticket price: that's a heck of a mark-up for hot dogs and peanuts.
