Dodgers in the Middle of the Power Pack

Dayn Perry at FOXSports.com has released his latest Power Rankings. I find these global ranking systems generally useless, but fun to read nonetheless. Here's how the NL West shakes out:

4. Diamondbacks
Orlando Hudson is thriving in the three hole, but it’s doubtful he has the bat to remain there long term. Carlos Quentin is swinging a bat again and could be within 10 days of returning to the lineup. Right now, Hudson and Eric Byrnes are doing the heavy lifting on offense, but the young bats will wake up soon enough.

9. Padres
Jake Peavy's flashing Cy Young stuff in the early going, the Pads are getting excellent production from the middle infield in the early going, and the bullpen is yet to allow a run in 2007. Getting Greg Maddux and Clay Hensley back on track will be the next challenge.

13. Dodgers
The Dodgers are winning, but that won't continue if they continue getting on base at a .305 clip. According to script, however, the rotation is carrying the team. Big stretch forthcoming, as their next 10 games come against the Rockies, Padres and Diamondbacks.

18. Rockies
The Colorado rotation has been exceptional thus far (2.63 ERA, only seven walks in 41 innings), but on offense they're slugging a mere .361 with only three home runs in 216 at bats. They've got bats, so that'll change. If the Rox continue getting such stingy pitching from their starters, then they'll very much be in the race.

28. Giants
There's bad, and then there's being bad
and expensive. Barry Bonds homered last week, but Barry Zito's ERA on the season stands at 8.18. Now the 1-5 Giants travel to San Diego for, one imagines, another round of beatings.
