Gordon Healing Shoulder, Despite Appearance Of Inhuman Elbow

Dodgers SS Dee Gordon was supposed to be in the lineup last night, but was given an extra day of rest by coach Don Mattingly:

The Dodgers chose not to start Dee Gordon on Monday night to give the rookie shortstop an extra day to nurse his injured right shoulder.

"Dee's good, he's still got just a little tenderness," Manager Don Mattingly said before the Dodgers' game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Dodger Stadium.

"He probably could have played today but we're just going to give him an extra day," Mattingly said, adding that the 23-year-old Gordon also might be a late-game replacement Monday.

Gordon injured the shoulder Saturday at Chase Field in Phoenix when he dived to tag the Arizona Diamondbacks' Kelly Johnson in a rundown. Gordon also did not start Sunday's game there.

Gordon is scheduled to start tonight's game at shortstop.

I used to be able to do that with my little brother's GI Joe action figures' arms.
