2012 All-Star Game Logo Looks Pretty Sweet

They unveiled the 2012 All-Star Game logo yesterday, and I have to say I think it's pretty sweet. I like the color, the crown, the symmetry, and the majestic font. And I think Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw will love wearing this logo's patch on their sleeves next year.

On top of that, it's pretty cool to have awarded this to the Royals, given Kaufmann Stadium isn't one of the new-fangled stadia that usually get the All-Star Game prize. And clearly, MLB and the Royals are both excited:

"On behalf of the 29 Major League Clubs, on behalf of commissioner [Bud] Selig, I have to tell you we could not be prouder to bring the All-Star Game to Kansas City," [MLB executive vice president of business Tim] Brosnan said. "And on a special note, to bring the All-Star Game to the Glass family, which has worked selflessly on behalf of Major League Baseball and on behalf of the Royals to keep the Kansas City baseball tradition alive and thriving here in Kansas City."

The logo suggests the recognizable shield shape of the famous Kauffman video board, and is topped with a gold crown bearing the year "2012."

What do you think of the logo?

I like it but I think they missed an opportunity by not placing the AL and NL logos on the flanking pennants.

I like the logo. It's a nice nod to the scoreboard at the K. It was modernized when they renovated the stadium a few years back but it's always had that crown and shape. I am glad it's there - it's really nice place to see a game. I wonder if they will honor Buck O'Neil in some way

Two out in the top of the third for AZ, 0-0 score, man on second, Justin Upton at the plate

Upton HBP< Chris Young at the plate with two on and two out

Shit, Marquis is in trouble in the fourth. One out, three runs in and counting...

Meanwhile, Tony LaRussa is trying to publicly humiliate and possibly injure Edwin Jackson.

4-0 SF through three. Not a good inning, Jason Marquis.

Steve Sax said...

@Josh S: La Russa clearly needed the Edwin Jackson badge (6 Ks, which Jackson indeed earned today), which can explain why he kept Jackson in despite yielding 10 runs through seven full innings.

Pujols is 0-for-5 with 2 Ks.

The headline for Simers' latest "article":

When things head south, T.J. Simers goes too

My point exactly, LA Times.

6-0 Giants in the fifth, Giants have scored two more and have none out and two on. I guess AZ is slipping back to second place by not being able to sweep...

Josh S. said...

When things head south, TJ Simers is already there waiting for them.

Josh S. said...

8-0? I thought these assholes couldn't score runs.

When things go down the toilet, T.J. Simers complains about being overcrowded

OK, screw the DBacks, we're gonna have to do this ourselv...HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Nope, couldn't even type it with a straight face.

I just noticed that the Mariners started Charlie Furbush today.

He's already an 11 on the 1 to 10 name scale but that gets bumped to at least a 19 when you realize the Mariners acquired him in what is now known as the Fister-Furbush trade.
