Matt Kemp pulled a reverse Samson and shaved his beard; he was subsequently infused with Bison-like powers, making several dandy defensive plays and hitting the Dodgers' first home run in the past 37 years. Hiroki Kuroda — who is also beardless — was stellar, striking out seven over 7 2/3 scoreless innings. Jerry Sands (beardless) added an insurance RBI in the eighth, Kenley Jansen (beardless) got a hold steady and Matt Guerrier (bearded — clearly an aberration) got the save.
The 2011 Dodgers are pretty ugly, but when it comes together (with some help from the Brewers, who stranded eight), it's a pretty sight.

Chente could be down.
Back from the Ravine. It's nice to win. I'd forgotten how that feels.
SoSG Mini-Fest in full effect, except I forgot to buy Dusty a half a beer! Shit!
@Sax
Beer me a full beer every other time. ;-)
Touché
It was nice meeting "Steve Garvey", aka Sax's dad.
Great time at the Yard tonight. Not a bad crowd, all told, outside of Josh and Sax and me. Some of the best seats I've ever had at the low, low price of $22.22 US. Josh and I were sitting there dumbfounded as we witnessed this strange "ball hit outside of the infield" as Kemp hit what I think the kids these days call a "home run."
The crowd is DYING to flip out for Sands. His first home run at the Ravine is going to be insane.
I will dry hump the shit out of that scrawny white boy if I'm in the Ravine when he hits his first HR.
@Dusty: I would not call that incentive for Mr. Sands.
Don't knock it til you've tried it!
That "Wiki leaks" line by your bro in law was pure genius, Josh. Just noted in my Am perusal of the GT. Cause it's not like I need to get ready for work or anything.
Re-reading the Game Thread IS getting ready for work, isn't it?
@Mr C
Sadly, it is a perfect warmup for what I have to deal with daily. Reading the GT is the equivalent of timing the pitcher's pitches from the on-deck circle.
