Game 51 Thread: May 25 @ Astros, 11a

Ted Lilly (3-4, 4.71) vs. Aneury Rodriguez (0-2, 5.72).

The table is set for the Dodgers to win their first clean series in over a month (against the Cubs April 22-24; I'm not counting the four-game series against the Pirates where game 4 was rained out). We're facing the worst team in the National League, the 18-31 Astros. We're rolling with momentum after yesterday's game, won by Jerry Sands' grand salami. And we're facing Rodriguez, winless in his entire career (admittedly, he only has four starts in this, his rookie year). So if we can't win today, I think I'm going to have an Aneurysm.

Remember the time when Mr. C. claimed to have had a grand salami for lunch?

Steve Sax said...

You should have heard what he had for dessert.

Josh S. said...

Last night, we all had a grand salami and then Rubbyed one out.

rbnlaw said...

Between Rubby and Javy Ngila, we have hope!

to make party, maybe?

spank said...

If I was not a Dodger fan I would think you guys were making up these names.

spank said...

So we have a White Bread,a Guerrier, a Guerra and LHWG's on the team. They should re-name the Doyers, Los Blancos.

Steve Sax said...

With Dioner behind the mound, we could have a Rubby-Tubby battery

Nostradamus said...

Actually, there was a GT where I claimed that hide-the-salami was being played because I missed seeing a grand slam.

Those were the days.

Nostradamus said...

@Spank

I thought the Red Sox were already Los Blancos. Los Blancitos, perhaps?

spank said...

@ Mr.C

Los Blancos have yet to be taken. The Red Sox are "The Crackers.

Note:I do not condone any kind of racial crap except for joking around, like my avatar.Just saying.

spank said...

I remember the salami thread. It was around the last time I hid my salami.

Those were the days.

Furcal - SS
Carroll - 2B
Loney - 1B
Kemp - CF
Gibbons - RF
Navarro - C
Sands - LF
Miles - 3B
Lilly - P

That makes sense, move Sands, your hottest hitter, down in the lineup in favor of a blind guy.

And if I keep posting these lineups, my season record will get above .500. Right? Right?!?!

Steve Sax said...

@Mr C: Did you look at the googledocs? I got an entry point to Running Man

Josh S. said...

Navarro should see some good pitches to strike out on.

Josh S. said...

Ooh. Rare "invisible variant" Russ Mitchell badge available today!

Josh S. said...

When he's not starting.

Josh S. said...

Sloney SB!

spank said...

Hit a homerun Kemp!

spank said...

Strikeout Kemp!

Steve Sax said...

FJL walks, and steals--and is stranded on second

Steve Sax said...

@Josh S: I'm happier with the invisible Russ Mitchell variant badge, rather than the foil-stamped badge...although it would be easier to obtain said variant if Mitchell were in the lineup

spank said...

First fucking pitch from Lilly and the Astros hit a homer.

Shit

Josh S. said...

Hmmm...do you think they're pitching Kemp away?

Steve Sax said...

One pitch, one run, one in the hole from Lilly!

YAY!

Steve Sax said...

thanks, ted!

Josh S. said...

I'm really starting to dislike Ted. Sure, he can battle, but he's way easy to hit.

Steve Sax said...

hey, we got out of the first inning!

spank said...

Awww..Loney is being delicately tended to by the trainer for a scratch on his arm.

Steve Sax said...

is it a flesh wound?

Nostradamus said...

@Sax

Heading to a meeting in 10. I'll check in this afternoon.

Josh S. said...

J.R. Towles doubles on Towel Day.

Steve Sax said...

hey, we got out of the second inning without conceding a run

spank said...

Get a hit,Lucky Slevin.

Steve Sax said...

we still have NO HITS against a WINLESS PITCHER

Josh S. said...

It's cute how you're still surprised by that, Saxy.

Steve Sax said...

Corey Patterson (TOR, double), badge #123!

I swear to freaking god I'm going to rip an innocent bystander's nut sack off if we can't get Blogger to work with mobile Safari.

I will personally bankroll a programmer to do a new, mobile-friendly SoSG site if that's what it takes.

Kyle Baker said...

Have you seen that innovative web-based idea-dissemination tool called Ted Balks?

Josh S. said...

Did Gameday go kapoopie for anyone else?

Kyle Baker said...

"Navarro should see some good pitches to strike out on."

That cracked me up, Josh.

rbnlaw said...

My Blogger stopped working with IE. My Dodgers stopped hitting long ago.

Now back to this one.

Kyle Baker said...

My GameDay shows we're a collective 1-13, so I'm assuming it's working correctly.

Steve Sax said...

kemp got a hit!

we still have no runs!

spank said...

Dinner with a bunt hit! OMG!!

rbnlaw said...

Josh,
My Gameday has had meltdown. It just said Dinner just bunted for a basehit.

LOLOLOLOLOL

Stiner last night:
"The Astros lead the league in Rodriguezes."

Steve Sax said...

ha ha aneury, a .147 batter just got a hit off you

spank said...

Snapage. 2 on one out. This is our first and last opportunity to score if Dinner does not get picked off.

Steve Sax said...

here we go, furkey! two RISP, two out

spank said...

Someone in the Dodger dugout is talking shit to the ump.

spank said...

Squandered that one.

rbnlaw said...

Not sure if I understand the badging process, but I think I get a badge if Johnny Damon is conscious for his game.

Josh S. said...

Hey, they replaced the Mitchell badge with Ethier...

...who also isn't starting today.

spank said...

Strong throw by Rafa.

Steve Sax said...

still losing 1-0 through five

spank said...

KEMP HR !!!!!!!!

Steve Sax said...

BISON BOMB!!!!

Steve Sax said...

MATT MASHING!!!

Steve Sax said...

RIHANNA-EX ROMP!!!!

Steve Sax said...

(watch lilly give this all back)

spank said...

@ Saxy re:Lilly 12:37pm

Boooooooooooooo!

rbnlaw said...

That Kemp guy is good at the baseball.

spank said...

Bad throw by Sands.I'll give him a break on this one because it would have had to have been one hell of a throw to get Lee.

spank said...

Actually it wasn't even a bad throw just offline a bit.

Josh S. said...

Why did we intentionally walk to get to their best hitter?

Kyle Baker said...

I just got a badger!!!

Oh, wait. You guys are talking about badges.

Josh S. said...

Joe Block concurs with me.

Josh S. said...

That's why I'm not a manager.

spank said...

Lucky Slevin gets out of that mess unscathed.

spank said...

Dinner on base again!

*has a heart attack*

rbnlaw said...

Fookal has been great at making the IBB work for the other team.

Josh S. said...

Come on Fookie, get Lilly a not-so-deserved win!

rbnlaw said...

As if to prove my point. Thank gawd they sat Carroll.

Does anyone else think Furcal was rushed back to the bigs? His batting has that particular odor about it.

Josh S. said...

Isn't Carrol playing?

Jason said...

Damn, Navarro showing some wheels today.

spank said...

Dinner is in rare form.

Steve Sax said...

furcal and ackbar, 0-for-4 each, in the 1- and 2-holes

Steve Sax said...

that was Jay Gibbons' last career IBB

Steve Sax said...

Navarro pulls a Dioner.

Oh wait, that's reflexive.

Steve Sax said...

i think i just saw our best chance at winning this game evaporate in front of dioner, like a frosted cupcake in front of dioner

rbnlaw said...

Wow, with Fourcal, Akbar, and the angry midget on the infield, it's surprising the Dodgers have so many runs.

rbnlaw said...

. . .and Javy Ngila was dealing.

Steve Sax said...

jerry grand salami sands, 0-for-4 now

rbnlaw said...

Sands goes penthouse to outhouse in one day.

spank said...

I thought Loney and Sands were hot. I guess only in games I am unable to watch.

Kyle Baker said...

Moving Sands in the lineup was a dumb move.

Jason said...

Blerg.

Steve Sax said...

FUUUUUUUUCK

rbnlaw said...

Armpit status: fucked.

spank said...

Not only did the Dodgers lose but there are reports Mike Brown is the new coach of the Lakers.

Fuck me in both armpits.

Josh S. said...

I went for a walk. It's a beautiful day.

Nothing bad happened at all.

Kyle Baker said...

(rips own nut sack off)

(cries)

Josh S. said...

So, despite what the record says, if you drop a series to the worst team in the league, that makes you the worst team in the league, right?

spank said...

@ Josh

I would think so.

Steve Sax said...

PGT up. Head exploding.

MR.F said...

Looks like our line-up today was Matt Kemp and a bunch of nobodies.
