This comment of the monent comes to us from Karina, in last night's game thread:
I feel emotionally abused by the Dodgers but I can't get out of this relationship.

Yeah, me too. Others have pointed out to me that sports teams can be like that totally corrosive relationship that not only returns nothing to you, but eats you away inside like a flesh-eating bacteria. And yet we keep coming back to the Dodgers. Any of you feeling this way yet?
(Just think, only 133 113 games left to go...)

I hate to admit it, but I've crossed the emotional line into not expecting wins.
I'm a Dodger fan first and foremost, but I can't be upset at them for going nowhere. They're just not that good.

I love your optimism, Sax. We're going 20 games deep into the postseason!
^ Which, of course, is only mathematically possible if they have a one-game playoff, followed by three series that go the distance.
I BELIEVE (that won't be happening)!
To quote an an old edict from Great Britain -
"Just close your eyes and think of the Queen."
(Which in this part of the world, is usually labeled with "...and think of baseball." But that won't help)
Now I know what it's like to be a Pirates fan.
I'm with Mr. C. I've crossed that line. Expecting the Dodgers to win will cause too much heartache.
At this point I am just looking for individual progress for guys who will matter in the longer term:
- Is Jerry Sands striking the ball better?
- Is FJL striking the ball better?
- Is Matty still taking good at-bats?
- Is Dre able to hit lefties?
- Is Dre not destroying batting helmets in the dugout?
- Are Bills and Clayton throwing strikes and working out of situations?
- Who in our bullpen throws strikes and gets us out of situations?
- Are burdens like Uribe and Lilly hurting us or helping us?
What makes me feel sad is that this may be the last we see of Hiroki. What a waste :(
ah shit, my maths is way off. corrected.
I just can't give up, I still believe they can make it to the playoffs, who knows? this is a sport of miracles...
@Sax I think deep inside, you believe they'll go the entire distance
