Post-Game 85 Thread: Back to Beautiful

DODGERS 11, METS 2

This game was almost the opposite of yesterday's ugliness:

  • Rafael Furcal: 3-for-5, 3R
  • Andre Ethier: 2-for-5, 2R
  • Manny Ramirez: 2-for-2, 2R, 2 RBIs
  • Juan Pierre: 1-for-2
  • Casey Blake: 2-for-5, 1R, 1 RBI
  • James Loney: 1-for-3, 1R, 3 BB
  • Russell Martin: 1R, 2 RBIs
  • Orlando Hudson: 1-for-3, 3 RBIs but a boo-boo
  • Juan Castro: 1-for-1, 2 RBIs
  • Matt Kemp: 3-for-4, 1 RBI
  • Randy Wolf: 6.1 IP, 2 ER, 3 Ks, 118 pitches. Oh, and — finally — a WIN!
  • James McDonald and Claudio Vargas: 2 2/3 scoreless innings

Beautiful stuff. On to Milwaukee!

The giants just got lincecum a two run lead, so that's a win. Let's hope the braves can take the rox tonight.

Don't hate us because we're beautiful.

Timmah is overdue for a bad outing.
I kind of wish we had saved some runs for the brew crew. Sunday's matchup will be the toughest.

Their corporal expressions look like they were kinda of heroes, trying to save the world.

Guys, don't panic, we're 22 games ahead .500. Let Lincecum be and care for the good guys.

Did anyone hear about the Nats-'Stros game that resumed today? Wild stuff.

Looks like Big Poppi is back on the juice. Another dinger tonight.

Can we take bets on when Steve Lyons will finally think Manny is back? Just listened to the pre-game; this guy is possibly more negative than Bill Plaschke. How many RBI has Manny smacked already? HRs? Come on, Lyons...

JL said...

speaking of Lyons, how boss was it today that he totally called out ESPN?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

What'd he say about ESPN?

JL said...

said it was strange for such a large company to have so much philly stuff. they basically were backing victorina. they showed a ton of philly highlights and interviewed shane. how many reynolds, kemp(who's been great lately) and pablo highlights have you seen?

he basically called them out on the east coast bias

Kyle Baker said...

Will new ESPN West outfit have much effect on aforementioned bias?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

That East Coast bias really pisses me off.

rbnlaw said...

ESPN? East coast bias? Nah.

Watching the T.O reality show. This looks like a train wreck in slow motion.

rbnlaw said...

Wait. It was just a preview.
Looks pretty awful. And by awful, I mean epic.

Did you guys know there's a Blue Jays blog called The Tao of Stieb?
They're fretting over losing Halladay.

I told them we'd welcome him in LA and beat the Sox for them in the series.

I don't think they're going for it.

lincecum has a no hitter going.

JINX!!!

NicJ said...

well Col, took a late lead and Lincecum is dominating. Looks like the stands in the west will hold tonight.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Typical Giants, always trying to upstage us. We beat the Mets by nine, so they have Lincecum throw a complete game.

tony gwynn Jr broke it up with a single.

Really great win tonight. The Manny boos got worse as the game went on, i think because he was getting hits and RBIs. If he had flied out, they wouldn't have booed as much.

Orlando's 2-out bases clearing double really set the tone - i really appreciate 2-out lightning and we had it kickin tonight.

Ray Wolf's wriggling out of jams was impressive too. I was amazed he made it into the seventh. I am sure Joe saw the all-star break ahead and thought it was fine to let him get to 115-120 pitches

Pretty good Dodgers crowd again and they were active, even starting a two-section mini wave at one point. One row even spelled out Mannywood on cut-out pizza boxes.

And the Dodger fans I saw were hardly apologetic about cheering for Manny. They seemed to revel in it. I wonder if it will be the same at home (i am betting it will be)

A final highlight was seeing a really good Garvey jersey in the crowd

time to keep it all rolling and get Bills his tenth tomorrow!

I think Nic J broke up the no-hitter.

Thanks for the At-Game Recaps, FB! Impressive that you attended all three games — and I'm glad you saw a series win. Did you happen to get a picture of the makeshift Mannywood sign?

COL 7, ATL 6, final

Tony G gets credit, Nic J gets the assist.

SF 6, SD 3, bot 7. Pads knock Lincecum out but leave the bases loaded.

NicJ said...

i was never in it for the fame, just for the hate of the Giants.

Josh S. said...

Yes! Ray Wolf is catching on!

Orel said...

SF 8, SD 3, bot 8

NicJ said...

holy crap! AZ just gave up 10 runs in the eighth. There goes the mini winning streak.

Josh S. said...

Have you guys heard Manny's new VIP Tickets radio ad? Classic.

NicJ said...

Josh, i laugh everytime i hear it. I love the part where he says, "hollywood, well i mean mannywood"

Orel said...

I wonder how much Manny got paid for that ad.

Fred's Brim said...

Orel,
i'll check with the Missus. She was snapping pics last night, but I don't know if she got that one. We were at a bad angle, behind and to their left, so I doubt it. And we didnt want to change seats with everything going so well!

and i think that's the first time ive ever seen them win a series in person. i caught a homestand a few years ago and have seen them for whole series here and there, but at best they only seem to scrape out a single win when I am there. This may be another sign we are onto something special here

Kyle Baker said...

At first I thought that VIP Ticket ad was someone impersonating Manny, until I realized it was like Manny doing a send-up of himself, or, really, Manny being Manny.
