Hijacked from ESPN's Truth and Rumors column (link insider only), here's three noteworthy posts:
That apparently isn't sitting well with Hall of Famer Frank Robinson, who is currently serving as an overseer of the umpires situation at the behest of Selig. Bill Madden reports that Robinson is livid with Selig's overtures to Torre and the fact that he was not approached about the job.
You can't please all of the people all of the time.
Don't be fooled. That's a wide-angle lens.
A report in Saturday's New York Daily News says Hal and Hank Steinbrenners were bothered by GM Brian Cashman's plan to use Chamberlain as the primary set-up man for Mariano Rivera and made the deal for Soriano.
Could Chamberlain be traded? According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, the Yankees have no plans of trading Chamberlain right now, but they would listen to offers.
The Dodgers want to trade Darren Dreifort, too.

And Congrats to A.C.,wherever you are, for signing with the Washington Nationals. I thought you had retired?
Waaaaay off topic:
This is one of the worst, most pointless columns I have read in many a year. Why ph why does the writer get paid to write this tripe?

I want to be hypnotized and made to lock away this hideous memory of reading Erskine's column today.
I'll just take your word for it, DB.
To Erskine's credit, the majority of his paragraphs contain two, and sometimes even three sentences. That is way, way above average for an L.A. Times columnist these days.
True, Jason. True.
Keeping with the off topic theme:
"Jets fan killed after celebratory sled ride
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 17, 2011, 11:35 AM EST
The New York Jets’ rousing victory in New England was marred by the death of a Jets fan in Staten Island, New York.
John Annese of the Staten Island Advance reports that 46-year-old Raymond Larsen celebrated the Jets win by sledding down his steep driveway in a Mark Sanchez jersey. The sled vaulted into the road below, and Larsen was killed by an oncoming motorist.
The driver, a 61-year-old woman, was not intoxicated and police don’t suspect any crime on her part.
Larsen was known by his neighbors for his buoyant personality.
“It’s really a big loss not having him on the block,” his neighbor Amir Alishahi said. “He was really a fun, fun guy.”"

Now, I don't wish death on anyone (well, there may be an exception or two), and I don't mean to make light of this situation. But damn, a 46-year old man sledding into traffic just ought to, well, know better.
@Neeebs
Whatever happened with this glove situation?

I forgot to tell everyone about this, but the US Embassy in Venezuela featured Sandoval on the website and tweeted about it:
http://bit.ly/fViXy7
see the weight loss by yourselves...the WS ring too...feel the anger and the hate...
if you need me to translate, I will, it's short anyway...
I clicked through to the Sandoval story; and then from there ended up on his site, the banner of which reads:
"the Kung Fu Panda" Pablo Sandoval's
PABLO SANDOVAL
OK then!
a) google ads are scary...
b) sorry Josh :(
