Elizabeth, This is the Big One

First off, happy new year SoSG friends (and foes). Hope 2011 brings you health, happiness, and a first round in the playoffs not against the Phils. In case you missed it, the NFC West is still a division in the NFL. And apparently, their 7-9 Seahawks had one trick up its ratty, leave-before-the-shit-hits-the-fan sleeve. Mid season pick up Marshawn Lynch not only had the run of his mediocre career against the Saints, he almost accomplished what only Lex Luthor had done before: Cause a One-Man Earthquake!!!.

The crazed reaction from the fans wasn't surprising considering what Lynch had just accomplished, shedding a half-dozen or so broken tackles on his way to the longest touchdown run of his career that gave Seattle a 41-30 lead with 3:22 left.

Turns out, Lynch's TD shook Qwest Field and the ground around the stadium -- literally. Vidale said a seismic monitoring station located about 100 yards west of the stadium registered seismic activity during Lynch's run. The shaking was most intense during a 30-second stretch about the time Lynch broke free from the line of scrimmage, finished off his touchdown and celebrated in the end zone with his teammates.

After that, Vidale said, the shaking died down, but it took about a minute for the shaking to completely fade away.

I didn't see any runs like that from Lynch when he was on my fantasy team. And despite my mixed feelings for Pete Carroll, HOLY F! Maybe the best run in the history of the playoffs?!?! I would have bet a lot of money against the Seahwaks. Thanksfully, the imminent arrival of a new DeShields kept me from my bookie.

Speaking of Earthquakes...

I could have ran for a TD the way the Saint D were trying to tackle on that play.

@Spank - That defense was so bad, even Marshawn Lynch could have ran for a TD!

I think he ran over a lady crossing the street too

On another note, congrats to you and the rest of your family on the imminent arrival of a new DeShields. May everyone be happy and healthy!
