I guess Alomar will go in as a Bluejay, but I seem to have more memories of him with Baltimore.
And just for the hell of it, another Blyleven shot:
hey, look at that. I'm the first to congrats Bert Blyleven. An honour long overdue. Not to mention I used to date one of his nieces. So, kudos Bert.
Kudos Greg!(Did his niece love to fart too? Do tell.)
LOL! A gentleman never tells but she was quite the hitter whenever we'd go to the batting cages.
I'd have voted for Bobby Higginson, just to spice things up.
Is Robby Alomar still purple?
no votes for Raul Mondesi.Kevin Brown got 12 votes and 2.1%, which means he off the ballot. Some of those recent articles that show him being as good as Schilling and some others make this vote pretty shitty
I agree, Kevin Brown is in my mind a marginal HOFer. But I think his association with the Mitchell Report as well as his collapse upon being traded to the Yankees, well, that 2.1% is not shocking I suppose.
Bahston heroics and sound bites aside, Schilling is pretty marginal for the HOF, as well.
I think Schilling gets in, but after seven or so tries.
I don't see Kevin Brown as a HOFer. I see him as an overpaid oaf petulantly demanding he have a private jet as part of any new contract.
Be home blyleven, Bert!
@ Sax - How old are you!? lol What do you mean you remember Alomar more as a Oriole? Dude.... Blue Jays! I seriously remember him more with the Blue Jays. I do remember him with the Orioles and Indians but Blue Jays was his team.
It's been a tough day to be SoSG Steve Sax, methinks.
Bout damn time, Bert. Represent Garden Grove, yo!!
@Roberto Alomar Baly 8:08p: Easy there, Tex. There are many personal reasons why I remember Alomar as an Oriole, including my regard for Cal Ripken Jr. But alSo, Alomar's most infamous career moment (the spitting incident) came while he was playing for Baltimore...
@Dusty: In bed by eight, home Blyleven! Giggity!
I'm with Sax on the Os bit.I was living in DC at the time and watching a lot of Orioles baseball, specifically as an exercise in Cal worship, so I mostly associate Alomar with that club.
I get it, the sons crew hates Canadiens. Just kidding, I guess I'm older than you guys :P Blue Jays!
@Roberto: I don't know whether you or I are older...You do have me thinking about the Bluejays and whether I'm neglecting to give them fair shake. I mean, I remember '92 and '93, but I also am probably biased against them having had a bizarre experience at Skydome/Rogers Centre (and not bizarre in a good way). I'll have to recap that story on this blog someday.
All that said, Alomar goes in as a Bluejay, right?
I just turned 19.Yeah Blue Jays! :)
He should go in as a Blue Jay. I'm just saying that my memories of him are as an O.@Sax - Does your bizarre story involve the apple jacks kid?
@Dusty: I have many, many, MANY bizarre stories. The apple jacks kid did not intersect with the Skydome.I'm glad to see the apple jacks kid has permanently imprinted itself on your mind, however. As it has on mine.
FYI, the Apple Jacks guy story.
uuunnnhh, Apple Jacks. . .*drools*
