Beltre: Messing With Texas?

MLB Trade Rumors is saying the Beltre-to-Rangers deal might not be delivered after all. Hmmm...:

Multiple reports suggested that the Rangers and Adrian Beltre were close to an agreement on a multiyear deal yesterday, but it turns out that "nothing is remotely imminent" between the team and the third baseman. Though MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reported that the sides aren't nearing a deal, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram says there "appears to be some hope" about a potential agreement.

Indeed, Rangers beat writer T.R. Sullivan said that, according to a Rangers press conference, "Club officials are not particularly optimistic that something will get down with third baseman Adrian Beltre. That deal seems unlikely give the tenor of feeling on Monday but things could change." Okay then.

I am indeed keeping hope alive, Josh S.! (But I know that Ned is too busy courting minor-league pitchers, however.)

[UPDATE 3:11p: As of this afternoon, it's back on the table with Texas, though not signed yet.]

This is hilarious. Now MLBTR says they're close again.

Let's drown our sorrows in minor league pitchers.

I want Beltre to wear Dodger Blue again, this year, not in 5 years, when Ned is going to like him :(

*sighs*

Yep, they sound close again. Update added to post. 6 years / $96M with thresholds for plate appearances.
