Post-Game 109 Thread: All Hail Andre Ethier, The Dodger Walk-Off King

DODGERS 5, BRAVES 4

Let it be said that Andre Ethier likes the pressure. Yet another walk-off home run for Andre Ethier, with none out and two on in the ninth, brings the Dodgers a very unlikely victory--particularly after we squandered opportunities in the seventh (Manny Ramirez Ks with two on and two out), and then again in the eighth (Matt Kemp Ks with two on and two out, in a pinch-hitting role). But leave it to Andre, who flied out preceding Manny in the seventh, but came through big time in the ninth yet AGAIN.

I could dwell on how Manny is now 2-for-14 with RISP since the BobbleSlam, going 2-for-4 with an RBI tonight, but I won't. Nor will I lament poor Randy Wolf, who was supported yet again by a lack of offensive firepower in the early innings. Meanwhile, Derek Lowe is denied a second straight win over the team that exiled him for that whole Carolyn Hughes imbroglio. I don't think we'll see Lowe again this year--which is fine by both me and Jamie McCourt.

In other news, Guillermo Mota came in to pitch the ninth, but had no one to bean.

Dodgers maintain the best record in baseball by a hair over the Yank-Mes. Just another come-from-behind victory from the comeback kids. Good night, everybody!

Way to ruin a sense of impending doom, andre.

Wow, I still can't believe it.

Way to go, Andre!

Sorry that the team slugged you in the face upon crossing home plate with your walkoff HR!

Once again I didn't go to the stadium when they have a walk off. Dang it.

I have to watch O Dog being interviewed at half speed so I can understand what the hell is saying.

Ken, with all due respect, let's not screw the walkoff mojo up...

Everybody should get to see at least one Ethier walkoff live. (I got to see mine on Beimel Bobblehead night last year.)

And at the rate he's going, everybody WILL get to see one live.

Dusty, you forgot the mandatory "Dodger Blue".

Orel said...

Josh, Dusty is speaking your language.

I saw the Beimel bobble night one and the one early this season where he banged a nice one off the right field fence (I recall it only went as a single since winning run came in, but it was a monster shot).

I'd like to think I started the Princess Bride references earlier with my "inconceivable" post, but that would be presumptuous.

I love these walk-off wins, but I'd rather get the job done in the 8th. Oh, and I also predicted the horrible ending, so I'm one for two.

Manny's MOJO is in those bobbleslam dolls.

It's like the old Friday the 13th: The Series!

Or maybe the dolls have his happy pills and creams.

And instead of the Dodgers, I saw Alan Parsons with Pink Floyd cover band "Any Colour You Like." No regrets.
