Game 79 Thread: June 24 @ Royals, 5p

Clayton Kershaw (7-2, 2.52) vs. Danny Duffy The Disney Bear (4-6, 2.80)

Gather 'round, kids, and let me tell you a story...

One day, Mickey Mouse was getting ready to set sail on a long sea voyage. Minnie Mouse made Mickey a special teddy bear to take with him so he would never be lonely. Mickey loved the bear and named him Duffy. Mickey and Duffy sailed around the world. They visited all sorts of exciting places and made lots of friends along the way.

Soon, however, Mickey (and Disney fans as a whole) grew tired of Duffy and cast him aside. He wandered the countryside, searching for a new home, before finally settling in Kansas City. He now spends his days as a left-handed pitcher for the Kansas City Royals.

The Dodgers have a left-handed pitcher starting today, too. His story is still being told, but I hear it's shaping up to be a good one.

The kid in the blue shirt trying to copy Kershaw cracks me up.

Not that I'm a superstitious baseball fan at all but the last GT Clay started showed the same uh, well, dance by Kid K and that game turned out pretty well.

Turner's batting leadoff?

Orel said...

And triples. OK.

Orel said...

Puig, with a man on third: In play, no out. How?

Orel said...

How does Turner not score, that is.

karen said...

I'm not so sure that Yasiel was out there.

Orel said...

Yet no challenge from Donnie

Orel said...

Who else has not heard of Duffy the Disney Bear?

karen said...

I haven't heard of Duffy, but it was a good story!!

Orel said...

One run per inning, that's all we need

Orel said...

Turner has seen 19 pitches in two ABs. This may work out.

The fever I came down with today may have something to do with the weird GT.

Orel said...

Do you have World Cup Fever?

Orel said...

"There's your run, Clayton"

karen said...

There's a reason why the Dodgers have only played the Royals 7 times in like the last 120 years. This is a total snoozefest.

Orel said...

We prefer the term "pitching duel"

karen said...

Orel...I've been told that a 'true' baseball fan will always prefer a pitchers duel to a slugfest everytime. Me, I like the excitement of hits and runs. Unless, of course, Clay's got a no no going!

Orel said...

Clayton in his first pickle of the night. Allows back-to-back singles with one out in the seventh.

karen said...

Friars and fuckheads scoreless early.

C'mon guys in funny brown robes!!

Orel said...

I'm like that too, Karen. "This is boring...I mean classic!"

Orel said...

Potential perfecto happening in Chicago.

Orel said...

I'll never understand first-pitch swinging against a pitcher who's having difficult. But I'll take it. Thanks, Escobar!

karen said...

It wasn't pretty, but Rojas saves the day (so far) and the Kid is out of the inning.

Bill Shaikin ‏@BillShaikin 48s

That's 20 consecutive scoreless innings for Clayton Kershaw. Jumps in excitement after Miguel Rojas saves shutout.

Orel...What's going on in Chicago??

karen said...

Charley just told us about the perfecto through 6 in Chicago and then, are you sitting down, asked if that qualified as a jinx by talking about it on the air.

Holy fucking moly.

karen said...

Going to bot of 8 with Dodgers up 1-0.

Orel said...

To be fair, Karen, Charley's not calling the Cubs game. It would be a total dick move if he were (although I guess we should note Vin totally disregarded the superstition during Clayton's no-no).

karen said...

Orel (not you!) mentioned that about it not being a jinx because they weren't calling the game. It was just funny because Charley has no qualms about the 'jinx' whether he's calling the game or not. As far as Vin, anything he says or does is golden. He always gets a complete pass in my world =)

Dre knocks Gonzo in. 2-0 top of 9th.

Orel said...

Geico!

Orel said...

All hail Vin!

karen said...

Here we go to the bot of the 9th. Kenley coming in for the save.

Orel said...

I guess Kenley is fixed. 1-2-3!

Make party? Make party!

Foam Pardy!! All eyes on you Padres...Git her done!

Kershaw really needs to get his game together if he’s going to make an impact this season.

Orel said...

SD 6, FH1, top 6

Dusty Baker said...

6-2 now and Gnats are knocking on the door in the 7th.

ps- My god do the Angels suck. They suck even when they are winning.

Dusty Baker said...
