Puig Pulls Second Career POW

From this angle, Puig looks kind of short.

Congrats Yasiel Puig, as your crazy historic run of consecutive extra-base hits has helped propel you to NL Player of the Week:

Yasiel Puig was named the National League’s co-player of the week for the week that ended Sunday, an honor he shared with A.J. Pollock of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

This marks the second time Puig has won the award in his career. The first came last year in his first week in the major leagues.

Puig, now 23, is a far more patient hitter than he was back then.

“It’s all the work I’m doing every day,” Puig said. “I get to the ballpark early and I work hard in the batting cage.”

Puig batted .348 (eight for 23) in six games last week, extending his career-long hitting streak to 16 games in the process. The streak ended Sunday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

Puig also hit three home runs and drove in 10 runs.

Congrats to the Wild Horse! Working in the cages early is paying off indeed. Let's hope he keeps hitting so that he can help get our team out of this funk.
